Rescue Me ID: 17-04-15-00289Sunshine (female)

Chihuahua    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 3/11/2017 Reason for being in rescue: Owner release, could not care for. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? none noted Weight: 7.14 lbs Height: Estimated 6.5' at the shoulder Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Sunshine would do great in a home where she can be showered with attention and worked with her timid behavior towards new people. What is my personality like? This little girl, along with a few others came from a less-fortunate environment receiving little to no human interaction but is over coming her own obstacles. She is now turning into the ... (Read More)little ray of sunshine we see her to be! She is 100% lap dog and wants nothing more than to spend her days giving her favorite people kisses. She does need some basic leash work and basic commands but she is highly treat motivated and is trainable. She does great with other dogs and ignores cats, she is also okay with children that take the time to get to know her and understand her shy behavior. Sunshine will make the right family a very loving and loyal pet! How I act when I first meet new people: Timid until she knows you. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: Estimated birth date 2/5/2015. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Rescue Me ID: 17-04-15-00287Lucy (female)

American Eskimo Dog Mix    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 1/28/2017 Reason for being in rescue: originally Lucy was listed on a Facebook page as 'don't want' Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? a tendency to climb fences Weight: est 16 lbs Height: est 14' at the shoulder Adoption Fee: $299 Fence needed? No - because she would just sail over it. A 6' privacy fence possibly but anything shorter this little monkey can scale. What is my breed? That's a good question. Lucy's foster mom was told she was a pomeranian and poodle mix. Because she does not upset her foster mom's allergies, we are believing the poodle part. But she is much closer in size ... (Read More)and looks to the American Eskimo dog. We're not really sure but she is purebred loving and sweet. What kind of home would be best for me? Lucy loves people! This little sweetie has already been bounced a couple of times and that's just not right. We're looking for a committed owner who understands the word 'furever' when it comes to a dog. Lucy has so much love to give. Lucy's foster mom has a set of criteria for her. First she needs an active, active owner. Lucy needs to run and she'd love a person to run with her (lots of walks okay, we don't mean marathon running). She wants to go and do and see, not hang on the couch all day. She could only be an apartment dog if she's exercised quite a bit and she needs doggie day care at least 2 days per week if you work. Foster mom wants committed doggie day care person or someone who works from home or is home a lot and takes frequent stretch breaks to play with Lucy. Lucy is house trained at her foster mom's house and she is crate trained. Her foster mom is very committed to her but knows that with her work schedule, she can't give Lucy the attention and training she needs. Lucy has a canine foster brother right now who she gets along fine with. She does great at doggie day care. But..she really does not care if she is an only dog or not as long as she has people people people time. She can be canine selective. She would most likely be best as an only dog. Lucy needs work on doggie manners. She has not had any obedience. She pulls on a leash if she's on a regular harness. She knows sit but nothing else. She's very food motivated and has tone of potential. She needs the right home to bring it out. What is my personality like? Happy and affectionate. She does not like other dogs right in her face but people are just fine. Lucy is a bit of an enigma. She sheds like any pomeranian yet she is not upsetting the allergies of her very allergy prone foster mom who normally can not be around dogs that shed. This would be her poodle side. But she does shed. Lucy has a sensitive stomach. If she gets too many treats or eats the wrong food she has diarrhea. Her best food is Royal Canin Gastrointestional low fat. This food will need a prescription. Her foster brother eats it also. Foster mom is working now to find the best non-prescription food for her. We'll keep you posted as that switch is made. How I act when I first meet new people: Friendly Lucy is in foster care in Charlotte NC House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.     Date into Rescue: 3/23/2009 Reason for being in rescue: Owner release, health of owner. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? None noted. Weight: 16.3 Height: Estimated 11' at the shoulder. Adoption Fee: $299.00 Fence needed? No. What kind of home would be best for me? 'I would do well in a quiet, reserved home.' What is my personality like? 'I am the type of dog that affection needs to be worked for and trust should be earned. I do not need to be cuddled up in someone's lap all of the time and I am perfectly content doing my own thing. I spend most of my days curled up in a comfy blanket and napping. I do not know ... (Read More)any basic commands but I do walk well on a leash. Although, I do not care too much for being outside.. I am a lazy boy.' Notes from caregiver- Cash is a laid back lazy guy. He doesn't love going outside and gets pretty snappy with me when I make him. He enjoys being pet but doesn't care for being in my lap or carried around. He seems to do fine with his cottage mates. He doesn't know any basic commands but walks well on a leash. I've been told he will resource guard people after spending longer amounts of time with him. He needs an owner who will respect his personal space. How I act when I first meet new people: 'I do not care for people I do not know very much.' House trained? Rescue Me ID: 17-04-03-00234Kenna (female)

Plott Mix    Age: Puppy

Date into Rescue: 2/19/2017 Reason for being in rescue: Showed up in parking lot at CPR. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? none noted. Weight: 36.6 lbs Height: 13' at the shoulder. Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Yes, I love to run around freely and play! What kind of home would be best for me? ' I would love a active home with maybe even dog savy-kids to run around with.' Please note we're not sure if Kenna is a plott hound or a Treeing Tennessee Brindle - but our database does not have the TTB listed so we went with plott. As with so many stray dogs, this is a guess. What is my personality like? 'I ... (Read More)heard this was a poodle rescue, but I am a hound girl in a poodle world! I hear everyone saying I just showed up one night, either I snuck through the gate or someone dropped me off over the gate and drove off.. but I don't understand what I did so wrong for me to have been stranded out that way. I am a very good girl, and sweet too! I love to play around in the big field and run with the best of them. I do tend to get picked on by the boys in the field though, and it has aggravated me but I have handled it well, especially sense the caregivers caught it and now separated us. I am soft spoken, well mannered and a lap dog. I do have a good bit of energy but I know how to calm down and try to fit in someone's lap to cuddle. I promise I have a heart full of love to give to someone's family!' - I was cat tested, the mean cat swatted at me and scared me.. I hunkered down and waited to be walked away from the cat. Here are some notes from one of my favorite caregivers here at the rescue! 3/16/2017 ' Kenna is as gentle as you can get for a medium sized dog. She comes on strong but means it with love. She plays rough with other dogs but it's definitely a learned habit from the field dogs. I try spending time with her in Simons yard and she is a big lap dog. When she first came in she learned sit and lay down within minutes. She listens well as she can be playing and I can verbally correct her and she hears and listens over chaos. She crates when I ask her to. She's very treat motivated but would take my loving over a treat any day. She isn't food aggressive with people but she doesn't want to share her bones or treats with other dogs. I've had her around small dogs and she did fine also. Kenna has the ability to be a very smart and well mannered girl. She would thrive with an owner who wants to go and do as she is ready to learn. She would be fine around older kids and needs room to exercise to get out her energy. She does well on a leash. She knows to potty outside. She enjoys playing with the other dogs but truly looks for human companionship. All she wants is someone to play ball for a short while then let her curl up on their lap and pretend she's a small lap dog even though she hangs off your lap a little' ' How I act when I first meet new people: Friendly, of course! I love everyone. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Until leash trained, a fence would be ideal. What kind of home would be best for me? Nola needs a quiet home but also someone that can help her with socializing outside of the home. She needs to learn how to be a true puppy! What is my personality like? Nola, along with her siblings came out of a environment where they had little to no socialization and have never experienced what being a pet really is. Poor Nola is the more frightened one out of the group. She will stare into your soul longing to trust you. Nola is a sweet girl, and you can tell that she does want to trust you but she just doesn't know how yet. It will take a real special soul to help this girl learn that she will be okay. She needs a ton of work, including leash work.. but she most definitely has the potential with the right person. Update from caregiver 2/17/2017: 'Nola She is still a pup. She can learn along the way. She was not good with the leash. She really makes her skid marks when she puts the brakes on. The leash will take some time. She gets along well with other dogs. There was no problems with the dogs in the admin off yard. She is skittish. She is not used to being held nor is she used to one on one attention. She feels comfortable in the company of dogs; not so much with humans. That's understandable. But when I put her to bed she didn't tense up when I held her. She loved the attention. She also have me a tail wag. She only needs to overcome 4 months of bad upbringing. Not a lifetime. She can do it. She's very lucky.' How I act when I first meet new people: Timid House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: Est 10/25/2016 PUPPY POLICY: ~~Thank you for considering adding a puppy to your family. Puppies can be a joyous experience but they can also be a tremendous amount of work. You need to be prepared for that work. Because our goal is to place each of our dogs in forever homes, we are especially cautious where we put puppies. Our ideal puppy adopters are: *experienced dog owners with a solid record of excellent vet care of their previous pets *be scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day *and for those gone 4 hours per day have another canine companion in the home *be stay at home type of people (work at home, home schoolers, retired, etc) If you fit this criteria, please apply for this puppy. If you do not fit this criteria, we strongly encourage you to look at our adoptable adult dogs. The number one misconception that we hear routinely from new dog owners is that they want a puppy because they do not think they can handle correcting past bad behaviors or resolving baggage. Not every adoptable rescue dog carries such baggage. Many adult dogs are well bred, well trained dogs who have lost their families through no fault of their own. The second misconception we hear is that adult dogs can not bond with a new family. This again is not a true statement. Adult dogs are ready and eager to give you their love. In return, you get a family pet that is a known quantity, kn (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-03-28-00054Milo (male)

American Eskimo Dog Mix    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 2/28/2017 Reason for being in rescue: Owner release, daughter moved away, dad could not keep. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Weight: Height: Adoption Fee: $225 Fence needed? Yes! I love to run around and play! What kind of home would be best for me? I am looking for someone to play with and that will let me hang out and be a companion. I also need someone that understands that I have had a rough past but I am moving forward. What is my personality like? I love people and dogs alike. I know lots of commands including: sit, shake, catch (the ball), 'where's your ball?', and 'drop it'. He ... (Read More)loves to play but he also loves laying down and watching tv. He easily entertains himself with a rope toy or a ball. When he was a puppy he was left in a crate for most of puppyhood and does not like crates as he became an adult. He will go in one and quietly lay down but he will growl and bark at people and dogs outside the crate. The only other quirk we have found is that instead of taking the ball out of his mouth you have to say 'drop it' he does not like his ball taken from him, probably also a side effect from his painful past. The longer he is here the more he just flourishes! He is a flower waiting to come into full bloom. He really is a good, playful, handsome boy! He is just waiting on someone that he can trust again! How I act when I first meet new people: I am shy but a total love bug when I come out of my shell. Treats and toys are the way to my heart! House trained? Rescue Me ID: 17-03-14-00284June (female)

Corgi Mix    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 1/26/2017 Reason for being in rescue: 1/26/2017 Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? none noted Weight: 38.8 lbs Height: Estimated 8.5' at the shoulder. Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Fence is recommended until she is leash trained. What kind of home would be best for me? Baby girl needs a home that does not mind working with a under socialized dog. What is my personality like? 3/6/2017-June came to the rescue with her siblings and a few puppies. Her past living conditions has made her weary of new people, and under-socialized. She has no idea what it is like to completely be someone's ... (Read More)'loved pet'. June needs work, and I mean a lot of work with being socialized. She quickly attaches herself to people she is familiar with. She needs leash work, but I have found a front walking harness helps the most. Although she is still weary of new people, she has came a good bit from when she first got here. She allows certain caregivers to love on her and she showers them with kisses. June has the potential to be a great, completely loyal dog with the right patient person. June has been cat tested and does not mind them. She is also okay with other dogs as long as they are not over-barring and do not scare her. If you open up your heart to her, she will gladly walk in.. 4 paws and all! Notes from caregiver 2/16/2017 ' I couldn't for the life of me get her to stay still. I've been delaying posting my description on her but spending time with her every time I'm asked to do it in hopes she's getting better and she is, just extremely slow. She has no desire to have a lead put around her and no desire to walk on it after you spend however long to put it on her. She's just very anxious and scared but who could blame her, seeing as where she had come to us from. She does indeed want you to touch her and her anxieties about it takes over after you do touch her or show her that you would love to give her love. She doesn't like to go in her crate as she's not use to one. She also doesn't know any basic commands and the sound of a car door terrified her so I didn't want to work her up more and actually put her in the car to see what she would do as I wouldn't want anyone to do that to me. She loves to be brushed, we've spent some time getting her use to that to understand it's not scary. She's very sweet and loves to bark but I think it's just out of the love that she has for hank and jolene.' %9D%A4 How I act when I first meet new people: Weary, hand shy but wants to be loved. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? none noted Weight: 57 lbs Height: Estimated 10' at the shoulder. Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? A fence would be ideal until leash trained. What kind of home would be best for me? Hank needs a kind, low-key and patient home that does not mind working with him. What is my personality like? Hank came to the rescue from a very under-socialized environment. He is still trying to figure out what being someone's pet really is. Hank still needs work, but he is the more social out of ... (Read More)his siblings. He hates leashes and does not understand why he has to have one on in order to walk outside.. He kind of just sits down and does not move but he has gotten better since he has been here. If Hank was a person, he would be sitting in a tractor, plowing fields and milking cows. He is just a good little southern boy looking for somewhere to hang his hat at the end of the day. Hank is learning how to sit, and loves meaty treats! He does not care about cats. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: Est 8 years est birthdate ....... 04/30/2007..this is a guess. She acts not kitten acting but like a solid adult cat with good experience behind her but many years to go. What in the world is a cat from New York doing in a SC poodle shelter? Twice per year, CPR staffers visit the wide world of New York city with the Best Friends Animal Society super adoption events. There, rescues and shelters from all over the east coast showcase animals and work to find the perfect homes. At the end of the event, animals that must return to traditional shelters that must euthanize for space are often taken home by those of us that are limited entry and have the luxury of time. Abigail was one of those animals. With most of the dogs adopted, we turned to the cat room to find our special save and Abigail was picked. She purred all the way home. I think she likes our climate much better. Abigail would be great as a kitty with a big screened porch or other way she can lay in the sun. She has been an outside cat and while that's dangerous, she would love to have some access to outdoorsy to enjoy. She is clean with her litter box and likes to purr on your shoulder at night. She's a great classic tabby looking for a home. Please note - we do not ship dogs. Rescue Me ID: 17-03-11-00507Sabrina (female)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 5/7/2015 Reason for being in rescue: Sabrina was turned into a kill shelter by her family Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? None known Weight: 8 Height: 10' Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Sadly we do not have much history on Sabrina, however if her behavior is indicative of her past...it was not a positive one. I will never forget the day we picked her up. We were actually going to the shelter to pick up another few dogs, and we saw Sabrina. She was hairless, crusty and absolutely petrified....and of course, on the Euthanasia list. Touching her ... (Read More)bare-handed was not an option. We got her back to the farm where we started making progress. We treated her skin for allergies and it took several months but she has finally grown a full coat back!! She is great with other dogs and has turned into a happy gal. She has also done well walking on a leash for our caregivers! Sabrina needs someone who is familiar with chihuahuas as she has a few quirks. Once she trusts you, she is a breeze to deal with. Sabrina only snaps if she gets very frightened (which happens less and less as time goes on). She has never actually bitten anyone. Sabrina is a sweetheart who is full of life and would really thrive with some one on one attention! We hope to find her a forever family, as almost 10 months has gone by and she is now ready! UPDATE: Sabrina is becoming more confident everyday. She is such a sweet girl, and does not have one mean bone in her body. Sometimes when you pick her her up she yelps, more so out of fear than anything else. Once she gets acquainted with you, she wants nothing but love and affection. She gets along great with her fellow doggy friends and usually just lays low. She is very polite, she doesn't bark much nor does she get in any kind of scruffles with other dogs. Her favorite thing to do is curl up underneath a blanket and snooze the day away. Update 2/9/2017 notes from caregiver: Sabrina is one very sweet girl, but take her out of her comfort zone and she starts to shut down. She did great walking on leash, but was very scared of the new dogs around her and in a new environment. She's very comfortable in Gretta's, so when this adorable little girl does get a new home, lots of patience will be the key to get her acclimated to everything new. She keeps to herself, doesn't bother a soul, and behaves very well. A perfect apartment sized dog with a quiet laid back owner would be perfect for Sabrina! How I act when I first meet new people: Timid until she gets to know you House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: est 3-5 years (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-03-01-00078Grace (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Senior

Date into Rescue:1/20/2017 Reason for being in rescue: SC shelter, Grace was seized due to neglect. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Grace is missing her teeth on the top side of her mouth, but this does not effect her health at all. Weight: 59 lbs Height: Est 17' at the shoulder. Adoption Fee: $125 Fence needed? no, she just wants to follow you where ever you go. What kind of home would be best for me? Grace would love a home where she can finally rest indoors, and be shown love. She doesn't mind to share a spotlight with other dogs and she is very calm. What is my personality like? Grace is exactly what ... (Read More)her name describes. She is incredibly sweet and did not deserve the neglect that was given to her in the past. She forgives and looks forward to the next human she gets to meet. Grace has a very meek and mild personality and is not hard to please. She loves treats but does not know any basic commands just yet! She enjoys going on slow strolls through the farm while meeting new dogs/people. Her energy level is on the lower side of the spectrum considering she is a older gal. Grace would be a great dog for someone who matches her calm and sweet spirit. Notes from caregiver Melissa 2/7/2017: 'Grace is just what I expected from a sweet older gentle dog. I fell in love. She's not used to cars, but she is used to furniture. She got herself up on the garden bench and enjoyed the scenery. What a calming energy she was. Granted our time together was brief, but I enjoyed our time together immensely.' How I act when I first meet new people: Friendly. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: Estimated birth date 11/19/2006 Please note - we do not ship dogs. If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total ... We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team https://s3.amazonaws.com/imagesroot.rescuegroups.org/webpages/s1576nuscd1tdooy.gif Date into Rescue: 06/02/2016 Reason for being in rescue: Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Carter came in with heart worms. We have treated him for heart worms and he is now heartworm negative! Weight: est 11.7 lbs/ Height: about 12' at shoulder Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? no What kind of home would be best for me? Carter would thrive best in a low key home with a patient adopter that will give him time to come around and get comfortable in his new home. He is a very timid dog and would fit best in an adult only home. What is my personality like? Carter is a shy little wallflower. However given enough time, a gentle hand, and lots of love and affection and he will open up his little heart to the right person. He just likes to get to know people before he opens up to them. Once Carter is comfortable, he is a very loving and loyal companion. Carter gets along well with other dogs and having another small dog to show him the ropes and pass the time may help to boost his confidence. A dog like Carter would greatly benefit from lots of one on one time with his adopter and some confidence building training to help him become a more self assured dog. Carter was recently returned due to biting someone in the face. It is believed Carter was extremely uncomfortable with being close to someone else's face which caused him to react in biting. Notes from caregiver- Carter is still as shy as the first day I met him. But he still crawls into my lap anytime I sit down. Face to face makes him the most nervous. I believe having a doggy sibling would make carter more at ease as he's always playing with another playful pup in the yard. He bonds quickly. He loves playing with toys. He ignored the cat. He walks well on his leash. He doesn't need to go to a home with children. Carter has so much gentle love to give he just needs an understanding human. How I act when I first meet new people: Carter is very shy and timid with new people. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. Turk became increasingly stressed and finally the owners reached out to rehome him. Here is Turk's story from his first family - they were unhappy to give him up and want what is best for him. Turkelton, or as we call him, Turk is a 10 year old schnauzer/poodle mix, who has been with our family since he was about 4 months old. His birthday is on August 22nd. He has a big personality in a little dog! He has grown up with an older sister, who is a 55 pound shepherd mix, and is very comfortable around big dogs. Turk loves to snuggle and will give kisses on command. He especially likes a good belly scratch. He learns very quickly and completed basic obedience training as a puppy. Turk is a bit confused here but we're hoping to change that soon with a home of his own - without little kids. He likes to do whatever he wants and he can give a little attitude if you are trying to make him do something he doesn't want to do. Coco is an energetic dog and he absolutely loves playtime. His favorite thing to do is to rip the stuffing out of his toys. How I act when I first meet new people: Friendly but also cautious. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: Reportedly 4 years old so estimated birthdate is 6/25/2012 Please note - we do not ship dogs. Bullmastiff    Age: Puppy

Date into Rescue: 05/10/2016 Reason for being in rescue: turned in to a local shelter by owner - reason stated was that Mia was originally a gift but she grew larger than the owner expected her to Foster location: Misty in Union SC Special Needs? none known Weight: about 55 lbs -she is in good weight but is young, adult weight will probably be 65 to 70 lbs at full grown Height: about 26' at shoulder - will most likely grow at least one more inch Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Much preferred but to the right home will consider no fence home What kind of home would be best for me? Mia is an affectionate, happy dog who epitomizes ... (Read More)the absolute best of the bull mastiff breed. She was originally owner release / can't care for and one of our caregivers took her home for several months while we worked to resolve her cherry eye .She loved Mia but realized that she is far too big and needs much more attention than she could give so tearfully asked us to find Mia a home. What is my personality like? Bouncy, sweet, loves to play. Hasn't met a squeeky toy she did not like. She can be a bit rough on toys, too. She has no one here that is really her size or energy level to play with but her limited interaction has been okay. Medical note: Mia has cherry eye (a tear duct that protrudes) in both eyes. In September, our vet attempted reduction by tucking but the tucking did not stay in. Because removing cherry eye often creates dry eye later in life, we've opted not to do additional surgery at this time. How I act when I first meet new people: Sweetheart - she loves people. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Rescue Me ID: 16-09-07-00421Oscar (male)

Cairn Mix    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 2/28/2015 Reason for being in rescue: Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Yes, see description Weight: Est 43lb Height: Est 17' at the shoulder What is my personality like? Strong willed, goofy, intelligent, energetic Who I am seeking: Oscar needs someone who is very experienced with head-strong dogs. He must have a strong 'pack leader,' otherwise he will run over you. He needs an adult only home. Oscar can be a very, very sweet dog. He likes to show affection and to get attention - when he wants it. He has bitten and broken the skin on one occasion since his time here with us. What we have ... (Read More)found is that he does best with people that he knows and trust, versus complete strangers. Oscar needs a strong leader who can teach him some manners and work with him. He loves to play and run out in the field. Oscar has a lot of energy and needs someone who is able to exercise him. He shows signs of resource guarding - he will act ugly in his crate sometimes and over treats. We definitely think his behavior could be modified with some training. At this time we believe he would thrive best in a home where he is the only pet. He has not made many canine friends in his time here - mainly due to his dominant personality. With some time and patience, Oscar could be an excellent dog. He needs an adult only home. Oscar was heartworm positive when we got him. He has finished full treatment and is ready for a home. Update 3/31/2016 Oscar needs lots of patience for the right home. He does not like new people but once he warms up to you he's as sweet as can be! He loves to run and give kisses. He will jump fences..so he definaltey could use some training. If anyone is interested in this goofy boy they should come spend one on one time at the farm with him until Oscar is comfortable with the new person. Age: We are estimating him at 5 but honestly the longer he's with us the younger he acts. Please understand that these are rescued dogs, and sometimes their ages are only a guess. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture, and not to discriminate against older dogs. You never know which dog will steal your heart when you meet them! How I act when I first meet new people: VERY weary about new people. He will bark and growl in his run until he gets to know you. Please note - we do not ship dogs. What kind of home would be best for me? Toby would love to find a home out in the country or on a farm with an adopter that will take him hunting, fishing or hiking! Toby is an exemplary representation of his breed in that his nose is his guide and not even a six foot fence is going to stand in his way! Toby is a very well ... (Read More)behaved dog that gets along well with everyone he meets both human and canine! What is my personality like? Toby is a laid back, sweet, even tempered, all around great guy. He has a very mellow and gentle personality. Unfortunately because he is an fence jumper and escape artist we have to leash walk Toby when outside, but now he is house trained and for the most part walks great on a leash! He does pull on a leash sometimes when he gets really excited and when he is in a new place. A few of our caregivers took Toby to a Tails and Trails event, which is a trail walk where volunteers walk some of our dogs on a two mile hike, and Toby had a blast! He loves to go out on walks to explore and smell new scents. He would do exceedingly well with someone who loves to hike and be outside. Toby would do great with children considering his calm, gentle nature. He is pretty independent.. he doesn't need anyone to baby talk him or have affection. Although he does love an occasional back scratch, and to be petted! How I act when I first meet new people: Toby is friendly to all he meets. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. Weight: 35 pounds Height: est 10' at the shoulder Adoption Fee: $ 125 Fence needed? no What kind of home would be best for me? Wally is looking for a home with a dog savvy adopter that will be a strong pack leader. Wally is the type of dog that you have to show him you are in charge and that you aren't going to put up with any shenanigans. Once you have earned his respect as pack leader he is the most loyal and lovable companion you could ask for. ... (Read More)He is bonded to one of our caregivers and she can do anything she wants with him. Wally prefers to have all the love and attention all to himself and would do best in a home as the only dog. What is my personality like? In the beginning, Wally was a little difficult and headstrong, but now he that he is comfortable and used to the routine he is much more agreeable and obedient. Wally is very eager to please and responds well to verbal correction. He already knows how to sit and is learning how to wait at thresholds (doors, gates, etc). He knows the wait command but if you don't make him do it he will try to sneak on in the door. Wally doesn't like being outside and prefers to just go out to use the potty and come right back in. He would make a great lap dog as he loves to cuddle and spend time with his person. Wally earned the nickname Wally Walrus because he resembles a walrus and always rolls over for a belly rub. Rescue Me ID: 16-07-06-00719Opie - HW+ (male)

Treeing Walker Coonhound Mix    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 12/31/2015 Reason for being in rescue: Owner release Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? yes, Opie tested positive for heartworms. He has just completed his heartworm treatment using the fast kill method which consists of three immiticide injections and four to six weeks of crate rest. Opie will be retested for heartworms six months after completion of treatment. Opie will need to be on a monthly ivermectin based heartworm preventative for the rest of his life. We encourage all potential adopters to research heartworms and treatment protocols to gain a better understanding of heartworms and ... (Read More)why a monthly preventative is so important! Weight: est 45 lbs Height: est 22' Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed: no, but he would love one! Opie is a goofy hound mix with a loving and playful disposition. He loves to play with toys, especially tennis balls. He gets along well with other dogs and loves to go outside and play with his many canine companions. Opie and his other hound friends love to engage in rough play and Opie likes to growl a lot when he plays, but it is all in good fun! Opie knows how to sit, and is also crate trained and runs right in his crate. Opie loves people and always greets them cheerfully. Opie came to CPR severely underweight, dehydrated, and a victim of neglect and abuse. We put him on a strict diet to gain weight and prevent refeeding syndrome and slowly nursed Opie back to a healthy weight. Despite his condition, Opie was (and still is), very loving and upbeat, wanting to play with his tennis ball while out on potty breaks. Opie does resource guard his food, but considering his past of not knowing when his next meal would come it's not surprising that he would be protective of his food. The perfect home for Opie would be an experienced adopter that will continue to work and train with him through his resource guarding issues. Opie would love an active owner to go for daily walks, hikes or jogs. He would do well in a home with another large dog to play with or as an only dog! House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
