No What kind of home would be best for me? Tigger and Sylvia are sweet kids can get along in just about any environment. What is my personality like? (Read More)of the day or the end of the play, you'll always find us snuggled together. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: Estimated birth date 4/2/2017 PUPPY POLICY: ~~Thank you for considering adding a puppy to your family. Puppies can be a joyous experience but they can also be a tremendous amount of work. You need to be prepared for that work. Because our goal is to place each of our dogs in forever homes, we are especially cautious where we put puppies. Our ideal puppy adopters are: *experienced dog owners with a solid record of excellent vet care of their previous pets *be scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day *and for those gone 4 hours per day have another canine companion in the home *be stay at home type of people (work at home, home schoolers, retired, etc) If you fit this criteria, please apply for this puppy. If you do not fit this criteria, we strongly encourage you to look at our adoptable adult dogs. The number one misconception that we hear routinely from new dog owners is that they want a puppy because they do not think they can handle correcting past bad behaviors or resolving baggage. Not every adoptable rescue dog carries such baggage. Many adult dogs are well bred, well trained dogs who have lost their families through no fault of their own. The second misconception we hear is that adult dogs can not bond with a new family. This again is not a true statement. Adult dogs are ready and eager to give you their love. In return, you get a family pet that is a known quantity, known size and shape and color and ready to start on the new adventure, their life with you. Lastly, training a puppy correctly is a tremendous commitment of time and energy. This is why we ask the puppy seeker have more time at home than the average working family. Puppies are gregarious and social creatures who crave attention and positive direction. You need the extra time to do it right.~~ (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-11-04-00395Mufasa (male)

Pomeranian    Age: Adult

All about me! Name: Mufasa Breed: pomeranian Age: est birthday 5/3/2009 Height: est 11 inches Weight: about 15 lbs Good with dogs? yes Good with men? loves 'em Good with women? loves 'em House trained? working on it Crate trained? yes Leash trained? yes Must have fenced in yard? no Foster home is: Dreamweaver Farms Pacolet SC Date into rescue: 5/24/12, placed but returned Sept 2017 when owner passed Adoption Fee: Sponsored by a generous donor Why am I with a rescue group? Owner release/death of the owner Below is the description I wrote of Mufasa when he was with us a few years ago. He has been in a loving environment and now he is that ... (Read More)trusting, enjoyable little dog we knew he could be. Mufasa does have congestive heart failure and is on enacard and lasix to assist his heart. Mufasa Mufasa - the Lion King. We named him that because he walked in so proud and tall. And so damaged. He has been hurt and he had a wild look around his eyes that didn't bode well for anyone coming near. 'I am myself' he proclaimed with his body and his stance. 'leave me be.' We did. And, oh, so very slowly, Mufasa began to trust. He is not a poodle. He is a Pomeranian and that is a breed that has their own unique characteristics. He's a toy, but you can't treat poms like toys or they will turn into the unhappy little pup that made his way to us in May of 2012. Untrusting, unlovable, unreachable. He needed time. We gave it to him. Now Mufasa is almost back to the happy, confident dog that Pomeranians were made to be. He needs a bit more to get there -- specifically, a quiet home that will cherish him. He also needs someone who will be very gentle with him. His back easily gets a slipped disc which, as you might guess, is quite painful. He is currently on a long term run of robaxin to relax him. He can't handle life on our concrete floors. He needs to be handled by someone with experience in his breed, in a home where people and other animals won't bump him. In spite of this, he is good in a car, does well on a leash, and behaves beautifully in a crate. Mufasa needs somewhere to retire and a companion or companions who will appreciate the quiet life. He'd be a great little guy to greet you at the end of the day and snuggle up on the sofa while you read or watch t.v. If you are looking for a calm canine companion to share your home life, Mufasa would be perfect. We believe Mufasa is about 8 years old now. Pomeranians can live to up to 15 years. He's got a lot of life to give. (Less)

Shih Tzu Mix    Age: Adult

Date into Rescue: 8/4/2017 Reason for being in rescue: nc shelter- owner surrender- can't care for. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Matthew has demodex mange. He has very bad skin right now and we are working through that. He was originally put on apoquel for allergies bur had a reaction to it so we are now transitioning him to a totally grain free food. Weight: 10.1 lbs needs to be 12 lbs Height:about 11' at the shoulder Adoption Fee: $269 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Matthew needs someone that will keep up his skin care and let him lead a stress fee life. Demodex mange can be ... (Read More)controlled with a happy life and Bravecto flea/tick preventative. Matthew's life has been far from happy. We're going to change all that. What is my personality like? Very happy and eager to please. He is still a bit cautious because he's been through a lot but as we get away from the past, he's opening up and showing us a very pleasant personality. He loves to climb on the second shelf of the bedding storage and snuggle down in the middle of all the clean pads . I imagine it feels good to be able to feel soft cloth against his skin again after being so badly matted for so long . How do I act when I first meet new people? Inquisitive and curious without being pushy. Offer him a treat and his heart is yours . More tips and tidbits: When Matthew arrived, he got out of the crate and looked at us like 'please now what are you people going to do to me.' Matthew had been severely neglected in his previous home. He was so badly matted and his skin was so inflamed that his tail was matted to his body. During the shave down it was discovered that his tail was so badly infected it had to be amputated. Matthew's tail is now about 3' long. Since he arrived and has learned that we are not going to hurt him anymore, he is starting to relax and we're seeing a playful and happy side. There is nothing he wont' eat but he waits to be fed. He does not dig in the trash but he's waiting eagerly for his treat. He'll put on his needed weight in no time. He gets along well with his fellow dogs at his foster home and is in general very laid back. Matthew says no cats please. They are fun for chasing and barking it but not so much fun for living with. I think he's allergic to them. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. Her paperwork says she is 13 years old, but her energy is more of a 4 year old. She loves other dogs, is indifferent to cats, and is a complete people pleaser. Since moving to Dreamweaver farms, we have also learned that Unco has severe separation anxiety and needs to be near her person at all times. Unco has been going for lots of long walks with her foster pack and she's doing really well in the weight loss department. She loves being part of things and even though we have to slow down just a bit for her, she loves it so much it's worth it. Please note - we do not ship dogs. Percy doesn't seem to have a lot of confidence and has the attitude that I am going to get you before you get me. He is very food motivated, so treats is a way to this guys heart. Caregivers say 'he is sweet as sugar when he loves and trust you'. He is also a very energetic dog and LOVES squeaky toys and will follow you anywhere to get one. How do I act when I first meet new people? I am not good with meeting new people. I will growl and snarl. Please don't hold this against me and give me a chance to trust you and love you. I could be your best-friend. More tips and tidbits: I can be really sweet when I want to be. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: Estimated birth date 6/4/2013 (Less)

He takes a while to warm up to a new environment, but once he does he will be your shadow dog. He is nervous by nature, we do ... (Read More)not know where some of his anxiety stems. We know he is very afraid of gunshots/fireworks. He loves other dogs of all sizes and gets along wonderfully with everyone. He loves human attention and can spend hours getting his tummy rubbed. He tries hard to hang with the big dogs but he's so far he waddles a bit when he walks. But he tries. Jumper is one of our 'easiest' dogs here at the farm. He is crate trained, he listens well, and he really knows his routine here. In fact we don't even have to ask him to do much, he just automatically does it. Jumper was adopted once but sadly returned. He could not make the jump from kennel dog to home dog. He was alone too much by himself and became even more nervous and it just didn't work out. Sometimes when you've been a kennel dog for a long, long time there is no place no matter how busy, how hectic, how loud or how stinky - Jumper says there is no place like home (Less)

Yes What kind of home would be best for me? Cinch is an active working dog who has never had the opportunity to be the dog he was meant to be and do the work he was meant to do. His life before the farm was a 10 x 10 chain link run with dirt on the ... (Read More)ground. And not much else. Now that he's running the fields at Dreamweaver farms, he's beyond happy. He looks at us and says 'teach me,' 'mold me,' 'train me.' He wants a person and a purpose. He gives hugs and loves to rub on his caregivers. How do I act when I first meet new people? Cinch is jumpy on people but it's all in a good way .He wants your attention. He needs to be taught so many things and the first is how to properly greet people. He will be a fabulous partner dog once he learns some manners. And did I mention he's eager to learn? More tips and tidbits: Cinch is in a run with his sister Addy. He will hike his leg and pee outside the run but not in it. He has never pooped in his run. We think he'll housetrain easily. We've not started crate training yet as he's got so much pent up energy we felt he was better off in a run instead of a crate. He's so eager to please we think he'll pick up the house training skill quickly. Cinch also needs leash training. He's a blank slate. We don't think Cinch would do well with children under 10 . We're looking for an adult only home or one with older dogs. We're looking for an adopter who has land and experience with this breed. House trained? Rescue Me ID: 17-09-27-00068Jasmine (female)

Australian Cattle Dog    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 12/22/15 Reason for being in rescue: Found as a stray Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms Pacolet SC Special Needs? No Weight: Est 30 lbs Height: Est 15' Fence Needed: Yes, absolutely What is my personality like? Jasmine is a young dog who needs a strong leader and an experienced blue heeler owner. She is a pure bred heeler and needs a job! Jasmine is high energy, true to her breed, and loves to catch sticks, tennis balls, or her favorite - a Frisbee. She knows how to fetch, and will bring whatever you throw for her back to you. Jasmine absolutely loves playing with toys. S he knows how to walk on a collar/leash but is ... (Read More)better on a harness. She really enjoys going for walks and see what is going on in the world. Jasmine is such a smart girl. She was in a foster home when she first came to us and her foster uses a whistle and a clicker and rewards her with a treat - Jasmine has responded very well to this positive training and learns her commands very quickly. She came to us with some basic obedience skills such as Sit, Crate, and Come and has been working on more like Leave It. She is fully crate trained and will go right into her crate when you say 'Crate'. She is still working on some typical puppy behaviors, but has come a long way working on those with her foster. For example, Jasmine used to have a bad habit of 'nipping.' This was not in any way out of aggression but rather excitement and her herding instinct. She has now overcome this while in the care of her foster mom! Jasmine is also a very affectionate girl. She likes to be petted and have her ears rubbed and tickled. She is a good dog! She and her foster dog sister play and play and play!! Her adopter will have to have time for her, patience, and a fenced yard. If given the chance, she can jump - but not six feet. In short she needs active owners - ideally someone who likes to hike, do agility and other activities. She will be a great dog in the right setting. Her foster home had 4 cats which Jasmine learned to tolerate. Who I am seeking: An experienced dog owner, preferably with this particular breed. Someone who is home more than they're not. How I act when I first meet new people: Friendly House trained? Yes, I really need a fence. What kind of home would be best for me? I need a active home that could possibly give me a job to do! What is my personality like? I am a hurricane Irma orphan that was rescued with a few others by Carolina Poodle Rescue. One of the 'breed experts' here ... (Read More)believes I am a Belgian Shepherd Malinois hound mix and I have the personality to go with it. No, these people do not know my past but they do see I have a drive for something. What that something is we have not figured out yet. I am pretty independent right now, I don't need loads of attention or gushy baby talk because I am an adult dog and don't have time for those silly things. My caregiver thinks that I can learn to bond with someone but it will take a special person to bring that out in me. Who knows.. maybe I have gone a long time without being a family dog and may need to learn how to be that. I am very assertive and alert, you can't sneak anything by me! I don't miss a beat. One of my caregivers say I have a lot of potential to become something great and the want to go with it. I am not the happiest here.. all I do when I am outside is stare out the fence and bark because I desire so deeply to be a part of the action. How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly but I pay more attention to things going on around me. More tips and tidbits: I do not walk on a leash very well, I pull with all of my mite but that can be helped with the right kind of harness and training. Now that we've got a diagnosis, we're going to spend some time seeing if a home can be found and if not, Zurich will join the SOS ranks as our second largest ... (Read More)very special lady. (Stella the Great Dane has top spot). Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Zurich has a number of very special conditions: **Zurich has glomerula disease, common in her breed. For more information on this condition visit :http://www.pethealthnetwork.com/dog-health/dog-diseases-conditions-a-z/glomerular-disease-dogs . To help her, Zurich takes enalapril 20 mg once per day. Cost at 1-800-petmeds is .52 cents per day. **Zurich is very nervous and unsure of the world. She takes trazadone to 'take the edge off.' We've found that trazadone helps Zurich relax and enjoy her surroundings more. Cost of trazadone at Wal Mart is approximately $4 per month Weight: 77 lbs Height: About 28' at the shoulder Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? yes without exception What kind of home would be best for me? Zurich's best home will be one with a securely fenced in yard and a doggie door. She has chronic diarrhea from any sort of stressful situation and needs access outside regularly. However, she does NOT need to be an outside only dog and our contract states Zurich will be an inside girl. She needs to see and be around humans to continue her trust of us. She's come a long way in that department and she has farther to go. She would also benefit from a companion dog large or small. The most wonderful sight in the world I've seen with Zurich is her snuggled with a shih tzu sneaking a peek at us from her perch on Zurich's back. She has a nurturing side with puppies and dogs who have need. What is my personality like? Zurich has not one aggressive bone in her body. Despite her massive size, she is a gentle giant. Now that she has her trazadone we're even seeing a bit of a playful size. When it's time to come in our out, she is learning to bounce with excitement. It's a joy to watch her. Zurich is totally routine oriented. If you break her routine, if something changes, she gets nervous and that is when the diarrhea happens. She needs a very simple protein diet, chicken and rice works well. Right now we have her on grain free chicken and rice. She does not need canned food on it. She gets dry only with some water, no canned food it gives her the runs. She can have simple treats like milk bones or most chicken based treats. She can't have pupperoni, much beef based or rabbit. All of that causes massive diarrhea. Chicken hot dogs work especially to take her pills. Note she does not like the taste of the trazadone so we have to trick with yummy stuff. You can melt the trazadone in some food with water and that works. Zurich does love to eat but she can get a bit picky. I think she knows what upsets her tummy. How I act when I first meet new people: Extremely timid and shy. House trained? Zurich avoids peeing or pooping inside but because she sleeps inside at night, we're training her to hit her pee pads at night. She is really good about this. And yes it's one big pee pad. Fortunately her area is all solid floors that are easy to clean. A tile floor would be ideal. Or a doggie door where she can go out at night into a securely fenced area. I need a special person with a big heart willing to take on a old guy like me. We could go take walks around the park or maybe even go watch a baseball game.. I'm not picky. Rescue Me ID: 17-09-13-00133Sissy (female)

Feist    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 6/16/2017 Reason for being in rescue: Owner release, health of owner. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? none noted. Weight: About 18 lbs Height: About 13' at the shoulder Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No - Sissy walks well on leash What kind of home would be best for me? Beautify Sissy was once the apple of her dad's eye but eye surgery robbed him of his sight and he could not look out for Sissy. During this time, they lived at an assisted living facility, Sissy got very protective and even though Dad told people not to come to his apartment when he was gone for Sissy didn't like ... (Read More)that, a housekeeper did. Sissy took offense to the intrustion and chased the housekeeper out, nipping her in the process. Sadly, housekeeper's do not take kindly to that and reported the incident. Sissy's choices were looking very slim when CPR stepped in. Sissy's best home would be one that has a separate house and that understands that, as long as she knows she's not in charge, she has no reason to resource guard. Sissy also gets along ok with other dogs but would be very happy being an only dog. What is my personality like? Sissy has lived a fairly quiet life but because they lived in assisted living, she met a lot of people and is actually fairly social. She doesn't do well with lots of chaos and I think longs for the quiet days sitting on her dad's lap, but she does need a lot more exericse than she was getting and she is thriving living on the farm and walking with her foster pack. How do I act when I first meet new people? A bit stand offish but she is friendly enough. More tips and tidbits: Sissy is one of the few dogs we do not crate train. She is pretty well house trained although she'll need reminders. She loves to sleep cuddled up next to her foster dad at night. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. Especially with humans.. I give my total trust to them and get attached very quickly. I deserve all of the attention in the world but I can't get that here at the farm with 200 dogs around me. I need to find a home. I radiate with confidence and it definitely shows. I walk in any room in any situation and not think twice about it. I walk well on a leash but I don't know any basic commands yet. I love attention and stuffed animal toys.. I could play with them all day. How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly. Rescue Me ID: 17-09-13-00121Pretty Penny (female)

Miniature Pinscher Mix    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 8/28/2017 Reason for being in rescue: Transfer from another rescue Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms Pacolet SC Special Needs? none noted Weight: 20.10 lb Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? She would love a fence to run around in but isn't needed as long as she can have proper exercise. What kind of home would be best for me? Penny needs an energetic home with possibly a few kids to play with. She also wants to be with her humans for the most part of the day. What is my personality like? Penny was a transfer from another rescue due to space and not having enough time for her. Our best guess is that she is a Miniature ... (Read More)Pinscher and Manchester Terrier mix. Penny is your average happy energetic young dog just looking for the right family to keep her entertained! She does need basic training, but her foster has learned that she is easily corrected and trainable. Miss Penny is full of love and life and ready to take on any adventure thrown her way. Notes from her foster home: 'Penny is a delightful stinker! She was owned by an elderly lady who loved her, vetted her, etc., but Penny was too much puppy and has 18 months of no discipline. She came to us with no manners whatsoever. Negatives: Needs someone who is a stronger owner - no first time owners! She yaps at a very high volume and very high decibel at times - guards the door, barks crazy after foster dad when he comes or goes, yaps from crate when you return until you come get her). Positives: She loves, loves, loves! She is smart as a whip, catches on fast, wants to please. She likes to snuggle under the sheets right next to you. She is crazy athletic - solid muscle! Leaps high (onto the furniture). She would make a super good Agility dog - she is so smart she needs a job. Has been pretty gentle with our dogs, but bugs them to play - they don't play. She'd love a play buddy or kids to run with. She has learned the joys of a stuffed squeaky toy and loves peanut butter (she has a very soft mouth and good manners taking peanut butter off my finger). She's learning to wait her turn for the food bowl and learning to be ok in the crate (still not happy about it but much improved!). She isn't a velcro dog (unless you are in bed), but she'll come up and look into your eyes with so much love and need petting. She is HUGE for a Min Pin - I think she's Min Pin crossed with a Red Hulk. The right home is going to get a wonderful puppy girl!' How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly. House trained? Penny is very much still working on this! What is my personality like? My name is Meg and I am believed to be a retriever/chow mix. Most of my personality traits come from ... (Read More)the retriever side of me. I am all things happy and playful. Nothing can bring me down! I can entertain myself for hours with just a tennis ball. I even throw it for myself to go fetch. It can take a little one on one time with new people for my true personality to show. At first I can seem stubborn and a little anti-social but that is only because I don't really know the person yet. After we have introduced ourselves to each other I am just like any other silly, playful dog. I have mastered leash walking but I still need practice with basic commands. I am also a great car riding buddy! After I'm done chasing my tennis ball I just roll over and insist on belly rubs. I would love unlimited belly rubs from my future forever family! This lady at Carolina Poodle Rescue thinks that I know basic commands but it has just been awhile since this gal has had to do them. My story is short and sweet.. I was found as a stray in South Carolina and taken to a local shelter.. but now I am at the farm! A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: est birthday 07/13/2017 PUPPY POLICY: ~~Thank you for considering adding a puppy to your family. You need the extra time to do it right.~~ Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Rescue Me ID: 17-08-22-00122Willie Nelson (male)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Adult

Reason for being in rescue: Breeder Release Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Willie Nelson is heart worm positive. He will be sent home with a year's worth of heart worm prevention. Please discuss the slow kill method for heart worms with your veterinarian. Weight: Estimated 20 lbs Height: Estimated 11-12' at the shoulder. Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Not needed, he is always by your side. What kind of home would be best for me? Origin - PLEASE NOTE THIS DESCRIPTION WAS WRITTEN IN APRIL WHEN WILLIE FIRST ARRIVED. MOST OF IT STILL PERTAINS TODAY. WILLIE IS ONE OF TWO DOGS WE STILL HAVE FROM THIS GROUP. ... (Read More) The previous owner, a breeder, has health which has become poor and so had the health of her husband. After a back surgery really sidelined her, animal control was called in by her neighbors. While all the legalities were in order this time, she realized that something had to change. Kindly neighbors directed her to CPR and gratefully, she asked us to take over and find homes for her babies. The dogs we received are for the most part, a bit shy and take some time to come around but once they are with you for a while, they become more social. It will take time and introducing them to new sights and sounds but we believe all will become pampered house pets very quickly. We are crate training them now and that is the beginnings of house training. A committed owner can take them the rest of the way. Our best home for these babies is one with another gregarious, happy small dog that will show the new dog how to live in a home. The home will be an experienced dog owner who understands and is willing to give a new dog time to settle in. We have not tested them with children yet and for most, they are so small that homes with children under 7 will not be good fits. If you can offer patience, stability and a confident canine friend to one of these dogs, please consider applying to give them their second, and forever, home.- We do know a few things about Willie Nelson. He is incredibly even tempered, nothing can bother this boy.. he is always in a relaxed mood. Willie nelson catches on very quickly while having a routine. He knows when his crate door opens to go straight outside and potty.. when he is done and ready to come back in he will go straight to his crate. Willie nelson also loves treats and knows how to sit! Tennis balls intrigue him, he chases them but he hasn't figured it out yet. When he first arrived he did not walk well on a leash, with practice and patience he now walks great with a leash. He is an all around lap dog, all he wants is a lap to sit in and a home of his own. If you would like a little reminder through out your day to be happy and stress-free, just give this guy a look and his job is done! How I act when I first meet new people: Friendly. House trained? Beagle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 5/26/2017 Reason for being in rescue: found as stray Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Huckabee has heartworms. He will be sent home with 12 months of heartworm preventative. This is called the slow kill method . Please check with your veterinarian before adopting a dog with heartworms. Weight: 24.3 lbs Height: est 20' at the shoulder Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Yes What kind of home would be best for me? Huckabee is looking for a family with a lot of experience in taking care of dogs. A typical hound, Huckabee has a strong personality and a desire to shape a really nice basic ... (Read More)personality into a wonderful dog. Huckabee is bright - and bright kids need loving structure or they will take advantage of you. What is my personality like? Huckabee is a sweet lovable boy but he's definitely a strong personality. For example, he walks on a leash, but he likes to lead. He is intent on going where he wants. He is also good at slipping between feet and through gates. That can be dangerous and he needs to be taught to respect boundaries. He has spent time playing with dogs much larger than he is and did well. He loves the freedom of a fenced in yard to run and play in. How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly and inquisitive. More tips and tidbits: When introduced to a new group of dogs and a new area of our farm he had not been to in the past, he enjoyed the stimulation of a new environment, smelling new smells and marking his territory. So far, we've introduced Huckabee to a kitten who is not very active yet as she is too young . Our caregiver could not make a good call on whether he would be good with cats based on this one encounter. He wasn't aggressive, but at that point he was overwhelmed by seeing new dogs and new smells and a new place. He was busy taking it ALL in. He'll need to be cat tested again if a cat owning home is interested. The boy is a good guy. But he is young and very active. He can't focus on one on one time. His mind and body are going in many different directions. He's a cutie and he needs some work *as most young dogs do) but he has a great disposition and that you can't teach. House trained? Yes What kind of home would be best for me? I need a home with no other smaller animals, and where I can be loved of course! What is my personality like? Charlie is a whole lot of dog. His owner did tell us that he has had problems with other dogs, especially little dogs, so we have not tested him with others nose to nose. This can be done on request but Charlie is so people focused we'd ... (Read More)really like to find him a home as an only dog. Note that dogs can walk by his crate all day or he can be with other dogs with a fence between them with no issues at all. Dogs who want to be only dogs are rare. He is an ideal candidate for someone who only wants one dog. Charlie is physically very strong! He pulls on his leash and for some reason has an obsession with the shower in the kennel because if given the chance he runs straight for it. We don't have a pool but I'd love to see this water loving dog doing some hiking where he can splaash in the creeks. How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly. More tips and tidbits: Charlie doesn't know basic commands but he is learning he has to sit for his treats. I think he will be a fast learner. He would need a fence. He is very friendly with the adults in our kennel but has not been tested with kids. On our walk he kept his nose to the ground and was full speed ahead! He didn't bark when meeting new people and was perfectly okay with them approaching him to love on him.' House trained? A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: est. birth date 3/15/2017 PUPPY POLICY: ~~Thank you for considering adding a puppy to your family. You need the extra time to do it right.~~ Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Plott Mix    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 1/26/2017 Reason for being in rescue: Owner surrender, Owner can't care for. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? none noted Weight: 57 lbs Height: Estimated 10' at the shoulder. Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? A fence would be ideal until leash trained. What kind of home would be best for me? Hank needs a kind, low-key and patient home that does not mind working with him. What is my personality like? Update 7/6/2017: Hank's story is more like a song. His past is rocky which is why he is so unsure of new people, but boy does this dog have potential. Hank has been with us for 6 months and it's so ... (Read More)hard to believe that the terrified dog hiding in the back of his pen is now this bright vibrant lap dog. We have put real dedication in this guy and it surely shows. This insecure, troubled soul has turn into a glorified toy hoarder and a huge baby that loves to give kisses. All he really wants is just to be a families dog.. Not a yard ornament, not something to look at when you are bored.. but a real part of your family. Mind you, Hank is still apprehensive of new people, but he has shown us if you are willing to try with him.. he will most definitely try with you. Winning him over just takes a little time and his favorite snack of course.. cheese puffs! He still needs leash work, we think it would be successful with time and a front walking harness. 3/8/2017 Hank came to the rescue from a very under-socialized environment. He is still trying to figure out what being someone's pet really is. Hank still needs work, but he is the more social out of his siblings. He hates leashes and does not understand why he has to have one on in order to walk outside.. He kind of just sits down and does not move but he has gotten better since he has been here. Hank is learning how to sit, and loves meaty treats! He does not care about cats. Once he is used to you he does give affection and loves giving little kisses. How I act when I first meet new people: Weary of new people, it takes a little time but then he is basically a lap dog. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. Rescue Me ID: 17-05-18-00064Bonzo (male)

Maltese    Age: Adult

Date into Rescue: 02/27/2017 Reason for being in rescue: Owner release - can't take care of Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Bonzo is looking for a quiet and experienced home with adults who understand dog behavior and known how to manage a little bit of attitude. Bonzo is lightly heartworm positive. On adoption he will be sent home with 12 months of Triheart heartworm preventative. This is called the slow kill method of heartworm treatment. Please discuss with your veterenarian options for heartworm treatment before considering adoption of Bonzo. Weight: 9.5 lbs Height: 9' at the shoulder Adoption ... (Read More)Fee: $229 Fence needed? Vastly preferred - he's good on a leash but enjoys yard privileges and barking at the neighbor dogs. FYI inside he's a pretty quiet dog although he barks at strangers. What kind of home would be best for me? Bonzo thrives on routine and structure. He does not like it when dinner or you are late. Things should run on time and as expected! His best behavior is when he's had that routine life and someone who knows his quirks. What is my personality like? Quirky and different. Bonzo has a whole code of conduct that you need to learn to be able to work with him. He can be affectionate but he also will growl at you if he wants space. He does not seem to know how to accept love. Right now, one of his caregivers finds if she picks him up with a towel, he does much better. He is well crate trained and will go into his crate most of the time with the cue 'Bedtime for Bonzo.' If he's giving you a bit of a hard time about that, we throw a treat in first. He loves to be sung to and verbally praised and he loves treats. Bonzo is an absolutely gorgeous little dog and he likes being groomed and made pretty. With some loving discipline and structure, the inside will improve. We've seen a lot of improvement over the last few months but I do not believe he's ever going to be trustworthy around strangers when inside his own home or ever with children. How I act when I first meet new people: He'll head towards you in a 'I'm going to get you before you get me/what are you doing in my space' when he's at home and he means it. He's bitten (teeth marks, very slight puncture) two strangers both who were coming into his space. When verbally called off he stopped immediately. In our adoption center, where he only occasionally visits, he did not do that although once he got comfortable on the couch, he did growl at a caregiver who was testing whether we could pick him up. His primary caregiver used a towel to move him on that occasion. He would be an excellent watch dog - no one will get in. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Rescue Me ID: 17-05-01-00293Luke (male)

Chihuahua    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 3/11/2017 Reason for being in rescue: Owner release, could not care for. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Needs socialized. Weight: 8.4 lbs Height: Estimated 9-10' at the shoulder. Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? A fence would be greatly appreciated. Luke is fearful and not leash trained yet. What kind of home would be best for me? Luke needs a home with a family that can understand his situation and his need for learning to trust. No other male dogs is best. What is my personality like? Luke came to the farm with a few others from the same hoarding situation. Although Luke has made ... (Read More)improvements, he is still fearful of people. He has his favorites here at the farm that he will let love on him, but if you are not one of those people.. he hides in the corner. Luke would be a great lap dog if someone is willing to put in work and a lot of patience. Notes from caregiver 4/26/2017- 'I like this little guy. He growls when he's eating and will go in his crate without any force but he growls and turns round and round when he is in it. I have been holding him since his second week here and he's great unless Gus and Jaq are out with him. I normally keep them separated. If they are in the big area together they are fine but small spaces is a no. He doesn't mind girls but I would be very careful about putting him with boy dogs. He isn't good on a leash he wants to pull you but off leash he stays right there with you. He comes to his name almost every time you call him. I let him in the area outside of Greta's and he didn't wonder too far from me. Almost as if he was scared to go further then the leash even when off leash. When I called him he would run to me and jump up on my leg. He gives great kisses too. He loves to be right with you and have his head and back scratched. He is dying for some one on one attention and shows his appreciation with a sweetness in his eyes and a kiss on your cheek. He doesn't always have a clean crate so I wouldn't say he is crate trained. I think he would be best being the only dog. He was fine with my child he ignored her.' How I act when I first meet new people: Fearful House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Rescue Me ID: 17-04-25-00066Chipper (male)

Cocker Spaniel    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 3/7/16 - adopted but returned when roommate got a new dog and Chipper did not like him Reason for being in rescue: breeder/hoarder Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? yes, Chipper tested positive for heartworms. He just completed his heartworm treatment using the fast kill method. The fast kill method consists of giving the dog three immiticide injections and keeping them strictly confined on crate rest for four to six weeks. Chipper will be retested for heartworms six months after the completion of his treatment. Weight: est 15 lbs Height: est 12' at shoulder Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? ... (Read More)no What kind of home would be best for me? Chipper is one of many dogs seized from a hoarder in Abbeville, South Carolina. The poor guy was living in filthy deplorable conditions-no clean water, dirty matted hair, feces, etc. Chipper deserves a nice home with a loving family that can meet all his needs. He would make a great family pet and he gets along well with older considerate children. He does need a family that can care for his medical needs and if interested in Chipper, we encourage adopters to read about heartworms. What is my personality like? Chipper is a total love bug when he wants to be. He wants nothing more than to be with his human and will follow you everywhere, but will sometimes guard you. Chipper loves to climb on your lap and lay his head on your shoulder while being petted. He gets along well with other dogs, but is much more interested in people but, needs a patient owner. Chipper is eager to please and could easily be taught some basic commands. Chipper is crate trained and hops right in when its bedtime. Update- Chipper was previously adopted but then returned due to resource guarding his owner and not getting along with the new dog brought into the home. When Chipper commits, he commits hard. He would do great with a single person that would be willing to earn his trust. Update from caregiver 3/7/2017- Chipper was recently returned. I can't recall how long ago he went to his 'forever home,' but he came back much like the boy who left. He's a bit headstrong. He pulls on leash until he strangles himself a bit. He then ends up coughing. With a harness, that problem could be avoided. He didn't seem to care about the dogs in the admin office. Salem the cat did not even merit a sniff. He did bark at someone he did not know, but there was no aggression. He was doing what dogs are supposed to do. He was great in the car. He even stretched out in the back window. I heard the reasoning for his return. All I can say is: he was a great companion this afternoon. How I act when I first meet new people: Chipper is cautious and wary of new people more so men than women, but he warms up fairly quickly. . House trained? Weight: 16.3 Height: Estimated 11' at the shoulder. Adoption Fee: $299.00 Fence needed? No. What kind of home would be best for me? 'I would do well in a quiet, reserved home.' What is my personality like? 'I am the type of dog that affection needs to be worked for and trust should be earned. I do not need to be cuddled up in someone's lap all of the time and I am perfectly content doing my own thing. I spend most of my days curled up in a comfy blanket and napping. I do not know ... (Read More)any basic commands but I do walk well on a leash. Although, I do not care too much for being outside.. I am a lazy boy.' Notes from caregiver- Cash is a laid back lazy guy. He doesn't love going outside and gets pretty snappy with me when I make him. He enjoys being pet but doesn't care for being in my lap or carried around. He seems to do fine with his cottage mates. He doesn't know any basic commands but walks well on a leash. I've been told he will resource guard people after spending longer amounts of time with him. He needs an owner who will respect his personal space. How I act when I first meet new people: 'I do not care for people I do not know very much.' House trained? Rescue Me ID: 17-03-11-00507Sabrina (female)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 5/7/2015 Reason for being in rescue: Sabrina was turned into a kill shelter by her family Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? None known Weight: 8 Height: 10' Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Sadly we do not have much history on Sabrina, however if her behavior is indicative of her past...it was not a positive one. I will never forget the day we picked her up. We were actually going to the shelter to pick up another few dogs, and we saw Sabrina. She was hairless, crusty and absolutely petrified....and of course, on the Euthanasia list. Touching her ... (Read More)bare-handed was not an option. We got her back to the farm where we started making progress. We treated her skin for allergies and it took several months but she has finally grown a full coat back!! She is great with other dogs and has turned into a happy gal. She has also done well walking on a leash for our caregivers! Sabrina needs someone who is familiar with chihuahuas as she has a few quirks. Once she trusts you, she is a breeze to deal with. Sabrina only snaps if she gets very frightened (which happens less and less as time goes on). She has never actually bitten anyone. Sabrina is a sweetheart who is full of life and would really thrive with some one on one attention! We hope to find her a forever family, as almost 10 months has gone by and she is now ready! UPDATE: Sabrina is becoming more confident everyday. She is such a sweet girl, and does not have one mean bone in her body. Sometimes when you pick her her up she yelps, more so out of fear than anything else. Once she gets acquainted with you, she wants nothing but love and affection. She gets along great with her fellow doggy friends and usually just lays low. She is very polite, she doesn't bark much nor does she get in any kind of scruffles with other dogs. Her favorite thing to do is curl up underneath a blanket and snooze the day away. Update 2/9/2017 notes from caregiver: Sabrina is one very sweet girl, but take her out of her comfort zone and she starts to shut down. She did great walking on leash, but was very scared of the new dogs around her and in a new environment. She's very comfortable in Gretta's, so when this adorable little girl does get a new home, lots of patience will be the key to get her acclimated to everything new. She keeps to herself, doesn't bother a soul, and behaves very well. A perfect apartment sized dog with a quiet laid back owner would be perfect for Sabrina! How I act when I first meet new people: Timid until she gets to know you House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: est 3-5 years (Less)

No What kind of home would be best for me? A home that understands that food is NOT love. Kirstie is a simple girl right now with a very low activity level. She has to be - moving that bulk around is not fun. We hope we'll find a happier dog as the weight comes off. Note that on Feb 1, 2017 after the first two weeks on her new ... (Read More)diet food , Kirstie has lost 4 lbs. We're posting updates on our Facebook page as Kirstie gets her body back. If she maintains a 1 lb loss per week, she will hit her target weight in 14 weeks. What is my personality like? Very quiet and low key. We honestly think she will be that way even when thin. She is an even tempered dog with no negative quirks. How I act when I first meet new people: Timid, not sure. Life has changed so much for her recently. House trained? Rescue Me ID: 16-09-07-00421Oscar of Union (male)

Cairn Mix    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 2/28/2015 Reason for being in rescue: Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Yes, see description Weight: Est 43lb Height: Est 17' at the shoulder What is my personality like? Strong willed, goofy, intelligent, energetic Who I am seeking: Oscar needs someone who is very experienced with head-strong dogs. He must have a strong 'pack leader,' otherwise he will run over you. He needs an adult only home. Oscar can be a very, very sweet dog. He likes to show affection and to get attention - when he wants it. He has bitten and broken the skin on one occasion since his time here with us. What we have ... (Read More)found is that he does best with people that he knows and trust, versus complete strangers. Oscar needs a strong leader who can teach him some manners and work with him. He loves to play and run out in the field. Oscar has a lot of energy and needs someone who is able to exercise him. He shows signs of resource guarding - he will act ugly in his crate sometimes and over treats. We definitely think his behavior could be modified with some training. At this time we believe he would thrive best in a home where he is the only pet. He has not made many canine friends in his time here - mainly due to his dominant personality. With some time and patience, Oscar could be an excellent dog. He needs an adult only home. Oscar was heartworm positive when we got him. He has finished full treatment and is ready for a home. Update 3/31/2016 Oscar needs lots of patience for the right home. He does not like new people but once he warms up to you he's as sweet as can be! He loves to run and give kisses. He will jump fences..so he definaltey could use some training. If anyone is interested in this goofy boy they should come spend one on one time at the farm with him until Oscar is comfortable with the new person. Age: We are estimating him at 5 but honestly the longer he's with us the younger he acts. Please understand that these are rescued dogs, and sometimes their ages are only a guess. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture, and not to discriminate against older dogs. You never know which dog will steal your heart when you meet them! How I act when I first meet new people: VERY weary about new people. He will bark and growl in his run until he gets to know you. Please note - we do not ship dogs. Wally is the type of dog that you have to show him you are in charge and that you aren't going to put up with any shenanigans. (Read More)He is bonded to one of our caregivers and she can do anything she wants with him. Wally prefers to have all the love and attention all to himself and would do best in a home as the only dog. What is my personality like? He knows the wait command but if you don't make him do it he will try to sneak on in the door. Wally doesn't like being outside and prefers to just go out to use the potty and come right back in. Sophie has to yet come around and be fully comfortable with human touch. Sophie will need a quiet low key home with an experienced patient adopter that understands that it will take ... (Read More)time for her to warm up and be comfortable. What is my personality like? Sophie is an active girl that loves to go outside and play with her many friends. She would probably do best in a home with another chihuahua or small dog to learn from and help build her confidence. Sophie is a very fearful dog and almost feral dog. Sophie needs someone that understands that it is going to take time and work for her to become socialized around people. Sophie needs someone with a lot of patience, a gentle touch, and someone that is up for the challenge. Sophie is crate trained and runs right into her crate, which is great getting her to vet visits and where she needs to go. How I act when I first meet new people: Sophie is scared of new people and runs from them. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: est 4 yrs Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Rescue Me ID: 16-08-01-00336Alfie (male)

Chinese Crested Mix    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 10/14/15 Reason for being in rescue: seizure due to his condition Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? yes, Alfie has food allergies. He can only eat rabbit kibble. Weight: est 18 lbs Height: est 12' at the shoulder Adoption Fee: $200.00 Fence needed 'No but he would enjoy a fenced in yard or some place to go play off leash a couple of times a week What kind of home would be best for me? Alfie came to CPR with hardly any hair and sarcoptic mange. After months of treatment, he was still having issues with his skin so off to vet he went. The vet's office staff decided they liked having ... (Read More)Alfie around so much that they are fostering him until he gets adopted. On top of the mange, Alfie also has food allergies, and is now only able to eat rabbit based kibble. We are unsure of Alfie's true breeds. The breeds we listed are our best guess based on his looks and behavior. Alfie has grown a lot of his hair back, but we don't know if he is partly Chinese crested or if his skin is just so badly damaged that his hair just won't grow back in certain spots. Alfie has shown some resource guarding and would thrive best with an experienced patient adopter that can work with him on this issue. He guards his toys, bed, and his home. He would do best in a home with few visitors and no children. What is my personality like? Alfie is one smart boy! He knows how to sit and twirl, and he is a fairly quick study, especially when treats are involved. Alfie absolutely loves to play with toys, but he has shown some resource guarding with his toys so he needs to have some rules and structure when it comes to playtime. Alfie is determined, intelligent, independent, and loving. How I act when I first meet new people: Alfie is finicky with new people. He likes some new people and others he does not like. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: 5 years Please note - we do not ship dogs.
