Rescue Me ID: 17-12-18-00417Abbie (female)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 6/30/17 Reason for being in rescue: stray to local shelter Foster location: Pam in Rocky Mount NC Special Needs? none Weight: 10 lb Adoption Fee: $299 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Abbie is still very much a puppy, so she is seeking a home where her people are home more than they're away so she can continue learning and socializing. She gets along well with everybody and everything. The only thing she's not a fan of? Cats. Doggie friends only, please. What is my personality like? Very sweet and loving! How do I act when I first meet new people? Loves people! Other tips and tidbits: Abbie is ... (Read More)definitely food motivated and eats very well. House trained? Abbie is still working on her house training. Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: est. 2 yrs old per the shelter, but I am still very puppy so may be younger PUPPY POLICY: ~~Thank you for considering adding a puppy to your family. Puppies can be a joyous experience but they can also be a tremendous amount of work. You need to be prepared for that work. Because our goal is to place each of our dogs in forever homes, we are especially cautious where we put puppies. Our ideal puppy adopters are: *experienced dog owners with a solid record of excellent vet care of their previous pets *be scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day *and for those gone 4 hours per day have another canine companion in the home *be stay at home type of people (work at home, home schoolers, retired, etc) If you fit this criteria, please apply for this puppy. If you do not fit this criteria, we strongly encourage you to look at our adoptable adult dogs. The number one misconception that we hear routinely from new dog owners is that they want a puppy because they do not think they can handle correcting past bad behaviors or resolving baggage. Not every adoptable rescue dog carries such baggage. Many adult dogs are well bred, well trained dogs who have lost their families through no fault of their own. The second misconception we hear is that adult dogs can not bond with a new family. This again is not a true statement. Adult dogs are ready and eager to give you their love. In return, you get a family pet that is a known quantity, known size and shape and color and ready to start on the new adventure, their life with you. Lastly, training a puppy correctly is a tremendous commitment of time and energy. This is why we ask the puppy seeker have more time at home than the average working family. Puppies are gregarious and social creatures who crave attention and positive direction. You need the extra time to do it right.~~ (Less)

What kind of home would be best for me? Any home where can I be a couch potato and loved. What is my personality like? My story isn't all that great.. and my life has left me with no forever home of my own. My owner released me to a North Carolina humane society after spending my entire life with my owners. We do not know the reason. I'm just a sweet and gentle ... (Read More)soul searching for my happy home. I can be a little shy, so it is important to understand that winning my heart takes reassurance and time. Once I know I can trust you I am right next to you giving you kisses on the cheek. Leash walking is something I need help with, for some reason slip leads scare me, I just need practice. Rescue Me ID: 17-12-17-00377Maggie of Monroe (female)

Yorkie    Age: Adult

Date into Rescue: 07/17/2017 Reason for being in rescue: Found as a stray Foster location: close to Waxhaw, NC Special Needs? collasping treachea, luxating patellas, hard of hearing, strict diet requirements, dental needs Weight: 8 lbs Height: 8' at the shoulder Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No, but Maggie does like to explore from time to time and would enjoy a fence What kind of home would be best for me? This beautiful little senior girl needs a quiet home with someone who is home most of the time. Maggie needs a retirement home with resources to care for her. What is my personality like? Typical Yorkshire ... (Read More)Terrier....cute, sweet, somewhat bossy, can be be snippy, especially if she is bothered while resting How do I act when I first meet new people? usually friendly More tips and tidbits: Maggie was picked up as a stray and when animal control called the number associated with her microchip, they never called back. The shelter tried several times. When Carolina Poodle Rescue picked up Maggie from the shelter, she slept for the next several days...she was exhausted. Her teeth were in terrible shape and she was recovering from being infested with fleas. She had several areas of hair loss. After being on antibotics to help with infection in her mouth, she had a dental and eight teeth were removed. It is recommended her teeth/mouth be rechecked in six months, but she seems to be doing fine. Maggie also has a bad cough from a collapsing trachea. If you are not familiar with this condition, you may want to do research. Maggie also has luxating patellas and therefore, will not be able to walk long distances. Every so often, Maggie may chose to stroll around the yard but usually she goes out to do her business and then comes back inside. She may need pain medication to help with this condition as she ages. We are also seeing signs of Maggie being deaf. Maggie's eyes will need drops from time to time due to allergies. It is also very important to keep Maggie on a strict diet. Any variation will upset her stomach. She is currently eating Zignature Essential and/or Zignature Kangaroo. She has no problems as long as her diet is consistent. This seems to be typical with the breed. Maggie is a BEAUTIFUL little yorkie and LOVES to be cuddled. Her coat continues to improve. One of her favorite things is jumping into a basket of clothes freshly out of the dryer. She is very persistent bout getting into the basket, which is so cute. She also loves to be held like a baby while rubbing her belly. She begs for you to continue when you stop rubbing her. She also loves to sit in the window seat and bark. Maggie does ok with other small dogs but can be bossy and nip at them if they bother her. This usually happens when Maggie is settled into a spot resting or sleeping. She can exist with larger dogs, but really does not care for them. In her foster home, she has lived with two larger german shepherds who are use to bossy little dogs and choose to ignore them. Maggie currently sleeps between the pillows of her foster dad and mom and she loves it. She has her little blanket and she goes straight to her little spot every night.. She will need a home where she can continue to be kept warm and cuddled during the night. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Maggie does very well with house training in our home. She will go to the door if she needs to go out and/or bark to get your attention. My age: estimated to be around 9 years old (Less)

Matthew's life has been far from happy. We're going to change all that. What is my personality like? Very happy and eager to please. He is still a bit cautious because he's been through a lot but as we get away from the past, he's opening up and showing us a very pleasant personality. He loves to climb on the second shelf of the bedding storage and snuggle down in the middle of all the clean pads . I imagine it feels good to be able to feel soft cloth against his skin again after being so badly matted for so long . How do I act when I first meet new people? Inquisitive and curious without being pushy. Offer him a treat and his heart is yours . More tips and tidbits: When Matthew arrived, he got out of the crate and looked at us like 'please now what are you people going to do to me.' Matthew had been severely neglected in his previous home. He was so badly matted and his skin was so inflamed that his tail was matted to his body. During the shave down it was discovered that his tail was so badly infected it had to be amputated. Matthew's tail is now about 3' long. Since he arrived and has learned that we are not going to hurt him anymore, he is starting to relax and we're seeing a playful and happy side. There is nothing he wont' eat but he waits to be fed. He does not dig in the trash but he's waiting eagerly for his treat. He'll put on his needed weight in no time. Breed: We think Wheaten mix Gender: Male Date into Rescue: 5/8/2013 Reason for being in rescue: Came to us from a rescuer who was having health problems Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? No Weight: Est 50 lbs..he is as big around as he is tall! Height: Est 23' Birthdate - is around May of 2005 but this is just a guess What is my personality like? Jumper is a very special little man. He takes a while to warm up to a new environment, but once he does he will be your shadow dog. He is nervous by nature, we do ... (Read More)not know where some of his anxiety stems. We know he is very afraid of gunshots/fireworks. He loves other dogs of all sizes and gets along wonderfully with everyone. He loves human attention and can spend hours getting his tummy rubbed. He tries hard to hang with the big dogs but he's so far he waddles a bit when he walks. But he tries. Jumper is one of our 'easiest' dogs here at the farm. He is crate trained, he listens well, and he really knows his routine here. In fact we don't even have to ask him to do much, he just automatically does it. Jumper was adopted once but sadly returned. He could not make the jump from kennel dog to home dog. He was alone too much by himself and became even more nervous and it just didn't work out. Sometimes when you've been a kennel dog for a long, long time there is no place no matter how busy, how hectic, how loud or how stinky - Jumper says there is no place like home (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-10-23-00222Cinch (male)

Border Collie    Age: Adult

True working dog Date into Rescue: 09/08/2017 Reason for being in rescue: Owner release- owner doesn't want Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? none noted Weight: About 40 lbs Height: About 22' at shoulder Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Yes What kind of home would be best for me? Cinch is an active working dog who has never had the opportunity to be the dog he was meant to be and do the work he was meant to do. He was purchased as part of a breeder pair by someone breeding smaller dogs who did not realize how much border collies need. His life before the farm was a 10 x 10 chain link run with dirt on the ... (Read More)ground. And not much else. Now that he's running the fields at Dreamweaver farms, he's beyond happy. What is my personality like? Cinch longs for a job .He wants a job. He has the inate intelligence and drive of the border collie but no outlet for it. He looks at us and says 'teach me,' 'mold me,' 'train me.' He wants a person and a purpose. He gives hugs and loves to rub on his caregivers. How do I act when I first meet new people? Cinch is jumpy on people but it's all in a good way .He wants your attention. He needs to be taught so many things and the first is how to properly greet people. He will be a fabulous partner dog once he learns some manners. And did I mention he's eager to learn? More tips and tidbits: Cinch is in a run with his sister Addy. He will hike his leg and pee outside the run but not in it. He has never pooped in his run. We think he'll housetrain easily. We've not started crate training yet as he's got so much pent up energy we felt he was better off in a run instead of a crate. He's so eager to please we think he'll pick up the house training skill quickly. Cinch also needs leash training. He's a blank slate. We don't think Cinch would do well with children under 10 . We're looking for an adult only home or one with older dogs. We're looking for an adopter who has land and experience with this breed. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. Belgian Malinois Mix    Age: Adult

I'm going to be somebody some day! Date into Rescue: 9/9/2017 Reason for being in rescue: I'm one of hurricane Irma's orphans Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? none noted- I do have a small mass on the right side of my eye but I am in no pain Weight: 54 lbs Height: estimated 22' at the shoulder Adoption Fee: $99 Fence needed? Yes, I really need a fence. What kind of home would be best for me? I need a active home that could possibly give me a job to do! What is my personality like? I am a hurricane Irma orphan that was rescued with a few others by Carolina Poodle Rescue. One of the 'breed experts' here ... (Read More)believes I am a Belgian Shepherd Malinois hound mix and I have the personality to go with it. No, these people do not know my past but they do see I have a drive for something. What that something is we have not figured out yet. I am pretty independent right now, I don't need loads of attention or gushy baby talk because I am an adult dog and don't have time for those silly things. My caregiver thinks that I can learn to bond with someone but it will take a special person to bring that out in me. Who knows.. maybe I have gone a long time without being a family dog and may need to learn how to be that. I am very assertive and alert, you can't sneak anything by me! I don't miss a beat. One of my caregivers say I have a lot of potential to become something great and the want to go with it. I am not the happiest here.. all I do when I am outside is stare out the fence and bark because I desire so deeply to be a part of the action. How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly but I pay more attention to things going on around me. More tips and tidbits: I do not walk on a leash very well, I pull with all of my mite but that can be helped with the right kind of harness and training. I am very treat motivated and I know how to sit and give hand shakes. House trained? Rescue Me ID: 17-09-13-00133Sissy (female)

Feist    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 6/16/2017 Reason for being in rescue: Owner release, health of owner. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? none noted. Weight: About 18 lbs Height: About 13' at the shoulder Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No - Sissy walks well on leash What kind of home would be best for me? Beautify Sissy was once the apple of her dad's eye but eye surgery robbed him of his sight and he could not look out for Sissy. During this time, they lived at an assisted living facility, Sissy got very protective and even though Dad told people not to come to his apartment when he was gone for Sissy didn't like ... (Read More)that, a housekeeper did. Sissy took offense to the intrustion and chased the housekeeper out, nipping her in the process. Sadly, housekeeper's do not take kindly to that and reported the incident. Sissy's choices were looking very slim when CPR stepped in. Sissy's best home would be one that has a separate house and that understands that, as long as she knows she's not in charge, she has no reason to resource guard. Sissy also gets along ok with other dogs but would be very happy being an only dog. What is my personality like? Sissy has lived a fairly quiet life but because they lived in assisted living, she met a lot of people and is actually fairly social. She doesn't do well with lots of chaos and I think longs for the quiet days sitting on her dad's lap, but she does need a lot more exericse than she was getting and she is thriving living on the farm and walking with her foster pack. How do I act when I first meet new people? A bit stand offish but she is friendly enough. More tips and tidbits: Sissy is one of the few dogs we do not crate train. She is pretty well house trained although she'll need reminders. She loves to sleep cuddled up next to her foster dad at night. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? none noted Weight: 44 lbs Height: 19-20' at the shoulder Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? I would love a fenced in area to explore in.. Or just a lot of walks. What kind of home would be best for me? I am looking for my retirement home somewhere maybe on a farm where I can bask in the sunshine and go on lots of nature walks. What is my personality like? I'm a older lady but not too old! I still love to wander through the woods and play a little with dogs of my size. When I am outside there is ... (Read More)nothing stopping this nose from working. I could sniff and roam all day long and come home to soak my paws and take it easy. That would be the perfect life for me. I don't ask for much! I get carried away while on a leash so a harness would be best to walk me with since I like to pull. Treats? Ooooh I love them. This lady at Carolina Poodle Rescue thinks that I know basic commands but it has just been awhile since this gal has had to do them. My story is short and sweet.. I was found as a stray in South Carolina and taken to a local shelter.. but now I am at the farm! A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: est birthday 07/13/2017 PUPPY POLICY: ~~Thank you for considering adding a puppy to your family. You need the extra time to do it right.~~ Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Oreo was heart worm positive when we tested her in Feb of 2017. We have treated her for her heart worms and on 12/13/2017 she has tested negative! No more heart worms! Weight: 79 lbs Height: Estimated 17' at the shoulder. Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Not needed but Oreo would love one. What kind of home would be best for me? I would love somewhere to romp and play and run and then come inside for a snooze with someone who loves me! What is my personality like? Oreo ... (Read More)came to the rescue as a bonded pair with her little poodle friend, Bailey. We have monitored them closely and have realized Oreo and Bailey have grew apart since they have gotten here and would be better separated. Oreo has grew into herself and realized she loves to romp and play. She is always running and playing in our big field where her other big dog friends play with her. After a full day of play she loves to sun or play in the cool grass. Oreo has a pretty moderate energy level- she does like to run the fields but she also knows when it is time to quiet down. She is pretty independent for the most part but she enjoys having affection as well, She does not need to go to a home with other small animals, she seems to think they are toys! A fence would be great until I learn to leash walk. What kind of home would be best for me? I need an understanding quiet home that is willing to work with me. My past is unsure but I would love to find a family to help me forget all of the bad stuff. I am head shy.. If you come at me to fast with your hand I will tuck down because it startles me. I am very curious and love to explore my surroundings. My caregivers say I am timid and I need a little work.. but they all know there is a bright fun guy under all of this fear. 7/12/2017: Since Hugo has been here a few weeks to settle in, we have noticed he is a very head strong type of guy. He does not look for anyone elses opinion and has his own little mind. Hugo is still a little shy but he is showing us more and more of his true personality. Hugo would make a great dog for a person that enjoys independent dogs that knows how to keep themselves happy. How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly but shy. Rescue Me ID: 17-07-15-00468Huckabee (male)

Beagle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 5/26/2017 Reason for being in rescue: found as stray Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Huckabee has heartworms. He will be sent home with 12 months of heartworm preventative. This is called the slow kill method . Please check with your veterinarian before adopting a dog with heartworms. Weight: 24.3 lbs Height: est 20' at the shoulder Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Yes What kind of home would be best for me? Huckabee is looking for a family with a lot of experience in taking care of dogs. A typical hound, Huckabee has a strong personality and a desire to shape a really nice basic ... (Read More)personality into a wonderful dog. Huckabee is bright - and bright kids need loving structure or they will take advantage of you. What is my personality like? Huckabee is a sweet lovable boy but he's definitely a strong personality. For example, he walks on a leash, but he likes to lead. He is intent on going where he wants. He is also good at slipping between feet and through gates. That can be dangerous and he needs to be taught to respect boundaries. He has spent time playing with dogs much larger than he is and did well. He loves the freedom of a fenced in yard to run and play in. How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly and inquisitive. More tips and tidbits: When introduced to a new group of dogs and a new area of our farm he had not been to in the past, he enjoyed the stimulation of a new environment, smelling new smells and marking his territory. So far, we've introduced Huckabee to a kitten who is not very active yet as she is too young . Our caregiver could not make a good call on whether he would be good with cats based on this one encounter. He wasn't aggressive, but at that point he was overwhelmed by seeing new dogs and new smells and a new place. He was busy taking it ALL in. He'll need to be cat tested again if a cat owning home is interested. The boy is a good guy. But he is young and very active. He can't focus on one on one time. His mind and body are going in many different directions. He's a cutie and he needs some work *as most young dogs do) but he has a great disposition and that you can't teach. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. Yes What kind of home would be best for me? I need a home with no other smaller animals, and where I can be loved of course! What is my personality like? Charlie is a whole lot of dog. His owner did tell us that he has had problems with other dogs, especially little dogs, so we have not tested him with others nose to nose. This can be done on request but Charlie is so people focused we'd ... (Read More)really like to find him a home as an only dog. Note that dogs can walk by his crate all day or he can be with other dogs with a fence between them with no issues at all. Dogs who want to be only dogs are rare. He is an ideal candidate for someone who only wants one dog. Charlie is physically very strong! He pulls on his leash and for some reason has an obsession with the shower in the kennel because if given the chance he runs straight for it. We don't have a pool but I'd love to see this water loving dog doing some hiking where he can splaash in the creeks. How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly. More tips and tidbits: Charlie doesn't know basic commands but he is learning he has to sit for his treats. I think he will be a fast learner. He would need a fence. He is very friendly with the adults in our kennel but has not been tested with kids. On our walk he kept his nose to the ground and was full speed ahead! He didn't bark when meeting new people and was perfectly okay with them approaching him to love on him.' House trained? What is my personality like? Happy happy happy! I want to keep learning, experiencing, and doing new things! How do I act when I first meet new people? I'm a puppy - I love everybody! House trained? Working on it! Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: est. birth date 3/15/2017 PUPPY POLICY: ~~Thank you for considering adding a puppy to your family. You need the extra time to do it right.~~ Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Rescue Me ID: 17-07-15-00435Hank (male)

Plott Mix    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 1/26/2017 Reason for being in rescue: Owner surrender, Owner can't care for. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? none noted Weight: 57 lbs Height: Estimated 10' at the shoulder. Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? A fence would be ideal until leash trained. What kind of home would be best for me? Hank needs a kind, low-key and patient home that does not mind working with him. What is my personality like? Update 7/6/2017: Hank's story is more like a song. His past is rocky which is why he is so unsure of new people, but boy does this dog have potential. Hank has been with us for 6 months and it's so ... (Read More)hard to believe that the terrified dog hiding in the back of his pen is now this bright vibrant lap dog. We have put real dedication in this guy and it surely shows. This insecure, troubled soul has turn into a glorified toy hoarder and a huge baby that loves to give kisses. All he really wants is just to be a families dog.. Not a yard ornament, not something to look at when you are bored.. but a real part of your family. Mind you, Hank is still apprehensive of new people, but he has shown us if you are willing to try with him.. he will most definitely try with you. Winning him over just takes a little time and his favorite snack of course.. cheese puffs! He still needs leash work, we think it would be successful with time and a front walking harness. 3/8/2017 Hank came to the rescue from a very under-socialized environment. He is still trying to figure out what being someone's pet really is. Hank still needs work, but he is the more social out of his siblings. He hates leashes and does not understand why he has to have one on in order to walk outside.. He kind of just sits down and does not move but he has gotten better since he has been here. Hank is learning how to sit, and loves meaty treats! He does not care about cats. Once he is used to you he does give affection and loves giving little kisses. How I act when I first meet new people: Weary of new people, it takes a little time but then he is basically a lap dog. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. What kind of home would be best for me? Brielle needs a quiet, more reserved home with owners that have a soft spot for timid dogs. Brielle reportedly has some standard poodle in her but we don't see much and she does shed. What is my personality like? Brielle came to the farm as an owner release with a few others. Weight: 8.4 lbs Height: Estimated 9-10' at the shoulder. Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? A fence would be greatly appreciated. Luke is fearful and not leash trained yet. What kind of home would be best for me? Luke needs a home with a family that can understand his situation and his need for learning to trust. No other male dogs is best. What is my personality like? Luke came to the farm with a few others from the same hoarding situation. Although Luke has made ... (Read More)improvements, he is still fearful of people. He has his favorites here at the farm that he will let love on him, but if you are not one of those people.. he hides in the corner. Luke would be a great lap dog if someone is willing to put in work and a lot of patience. Notes from caregiver 4/26/2017- 'I like this little guy. He growls when he's eating and will go in his crate without any force but he growls and turns round and round when he is in it. I have been holding him since his second week here and he's great unless Gus and Jaq are out with him. I normally keep them separated. If they are in the big area together they are fine but small spaces is a no. He doesn't mind girls but I would be very careful about putting him with boy dogs. He isn't good on a leash he wants to pull you but off leash he stays right there with you. He comes to his name almost every time you call him. I let him in the area outside of Greta's and he didn't wonder too far from me. Almost as if he was scared to go further then the leash even when off leash. When I called him he would run to me and jump up on my leg. He gives great kisses too. He loves to be right with you and have his head and back scratched. He is dying for some one on one attention and shows his appreciation with a sweetness in his eyes and a kiss on your cheek. He doesn't always have a clean crate so I wouldn't say he is crate trained. I think he would be best being the only dog. He was fine with my child he ignored her.' How I act when I first meet new people: Fearful House trained?     Date into Rescue: 1/26/2017 Reason for being in rescue: 1/26/2017 Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? none noted Weight: 38.8 lbs Height: Estimated 8.5' at the shoulder. Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Fence is recommended until she is leash trained. What kind of home would be best for me? Baby girl needs a home that does not mind working with a under socialized dog. What is my personality like? 3/6/2017-June came to the rescue with her siblings and a few puppies. Her past living conditions has made her weary of new people, and under-socialized. She has no idea what it is like to completely be someone's ... (Read More)'loved pet'. June needs work, and I mean a lot of work with being socialized. She quickly attaches herself to people she is familiar with. She needs leash work, but I have found a front walking harness helps the most. Although she is still weary of new people, she has came a good bit from when she first got here. She allows certain caregivers to love on her and she showers them with kisses. June has the potential to be a great, completely loyal dog with the right patient person. June has been cat tested and does not mind them. She is also okay with other dogs as long as they are not over-barring and do not scare her. If you open up your heart to her, she will gladly walk in.. 4 paws and all! Notes from caregiver 2/16/2017 ' I couldn't for the life of me get her to stay still. I've been delaying posting my description on her but spending time with her every time I'm asked to do it in hopes she's getting better and she is, just extremely slow. She has no desire to have a lead put around her and no desire to walk on it after you spend however long to put it on her. She's just very anxious and scared but who could blame her, seeing as where she had come to us from. She does indeed want you to touch her and her anxieties about it takes over after you do touch her or show her that you would love to give her love. She doesn't like to go in her crate as she's not use to one. She also doesn't know any basic commands and the sound of a car door terrified her so I didn't want to work her up more and actually put her in the car to see what she would do as I wouldn't want anyone to do that to me. She loves to be brushed, we've spent some time getting her use to that to understand it's not scary. She's very sweet and loves to bark but I think it's just out of the love that she has for hank and jolene.' %9D%A4 How I act when I first meet new people: Weary, hand shy but wants to be loved. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: Estimated birth date 10/21/2014 Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Rescue Me ID: 17-03-11-00507Sabrina (female)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 5/7/2015 Reason for being in rescue: Sabrina was turned into a kill shelter by her family Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? None known Weight: 8 Height: 10' Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Sadly we do not have much history on Sabrina, however if her behavior is indicative of her past...it was not a positive one. I will never forget the day we picked her up. We were actually going to the shelter to pick up another few dogs, and we saw Sabrina. She was hairless, crusty and absolutely petrified....and of course, on the Euthanasia list. Touching her ... (Read More)bare-handed was not an option. We got her back to the farm where we started making progress. We treated her skin for allergies and it took several months but she has finally grown a full coat back!! She is great with other dogs and has turned into a happy gal. She has also done well walking on a leash for our caregivers! Sabrina needs someone who is familiar with chihuahuas as she has a few quirks. Once she trusts you, she is a breeze to deal with. Sabrina only snaps if she gets very frightened (which happens less and less as time goes on). She has never actually bitten anyone. Sabrina is a sweetheart who is full of life and would really thrive with some one on one attention! We hope to find her a forever family, as almost 10 months has gone by and she is now ready! UPDATE: Sabrina is becoming more confident everyday. She is such a sweet girl, and does not have one mean bone in her body. Sometimes when you pick her her up she yelps, more so out of fear than anything else. Once she gets acquainted with you, she wants nothing but love and affection. She gets along great with her fellow doggy friends and usually just lays low. She is very polite, she doesn't bark much nor does she get in any kind of scruffles with other dogs. Her favorite thing to do is curl up underneath a blanket and snooze the day away. Update 2/9/2017 notes from caregiver: Sabrina is one very sweet girl, but take her out of her comfort zone and she starts to shut down. She did great walking on leash, but was very scared of the new dogs around her and in a new environment. She's very comfortable in Gretta's, so when this adorable little girl does get a new home, lots of patience will be the key to get her acclimated to everything new. She keeps to herself, doesn't bother a soul, and behaves very well. A perfect apartment sized dog with a quiet laid back owner would be perfect for Sabrina! How I act when I first meet new people: Timid until she gets to know you House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: est 3-5 years (Less)

Beagle Mix    Age: Adult

Date into Rescue: 1/12/2017 Reason for being in rescue: Kirstie was placed in a local SC shelter after her owner passed away. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? none noted. Weight: 55.80 - her target weight is 35 lbs Height: est 18' at the shoulder Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? A home that understands that food is NOT love. Kirstie is a simple girl right now with a very low activity level. She has to be - moving that bulk around is not fun. We hope we'll find a happier dog as the weight comes off. Note that on Feb 1, 2017 after the first two weeks on her new ... (Read More)diet food , Kirstie has lost 4 lbs. We're posting updates on our Facebook page as Kirstie gets her body back. If she maintains a 1 lb loss per week, she will hit her target weight in 14 weeks. What is my personality like? Very quiet and low key. We honestly think she will be that way even when thin. She is an even tempered dog with no negative quirks. How I act when I first meet new people: Timid, not sure. Life has changed so much for her recently. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. Rescue Me ID: 16-08-22-00401Sophie (female)

Chihuahua    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 3/7/16 Reason for being in rescue: breeder/hoarder Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? none Weight: 8.2 lbs Height: est 8' at the shoulder Adoption Fee: $ 149 Fence needed? yes What kind of home would be best for me? Sophie was one of many dogs seized from a hoarder in Abbeville, SC. Many of the dogs were terrified and under socialized with humans and have taken a long time to warm up to our caregivers. Sophie has to yet come around and be fully comfortable with human touch. Sophie will need a quiet low key home with an experienced patient adopter that understands that it will take ... (Read More)time for her to warm up and be comfortable. What is my personality like? Sophie is an active girl that loves to go outside and play with her many friends. She would probably do best in a home with another chihuahua or small dog to learn from and help build her confidence. Sophie is a very fearful dog and almost feral dog. Sophie needs someone that understands that it is going to take time and work for her to become socialized around people. Sophie needs someone with a lot of patience, a gentle touch, and someone that is up for the challenge. Sophie is crate trained and runs right into her crate, which is great getting her to vet visits and where she needs to go. How I act when I first meet new people: Sophie is scared of new people and runs from them. House trained? Keegan has been in a foster home for a few months now and has been coming out of his shell. Rescue Me ID: 16-08-01-00336Alfie (male)

Chinese Crested Mix    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 10/14/15 Reason for being in rescue: seizure due to his condition Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? yes, Alfie has food allergies. He can only eat rabbit kibble. Weight: est 18 lbs Height: est 12' at the shoulder Adoption Fee: $200.00 Fence needed 'No but he would enjoy a fenced in yard or some place to go play off leash a couple of times a week What kind of home would be best for me? Alfie came to CPR with hardly any hair and sarcoptic mange. After months of treatment, he was still having issues with his skin so off to vet he went. The vet's office staff decided they liked having ... (Read More)Alfie around so much that they are fostering him until he gets adopted. On top of the mange, Alfie also has food allergies, and is now only able to eat rabbit based kibble. We are unsure of Alfie's true breeds. The breeds we listed are our best guess based on his looks and behavior. Alfie has grown a lot of his hair back, but we don't know if he is partly Chinese crested or if his skin is just so badly damaged that his hair just won't grow back in certain spots. Alfie has shown some resource guarding and would thrive best with an experienced patient adopter that can work with him on this issue. He guards his toys, bed, and his home. He would do best in a home with few visitors and no children. What is my personality like? Alfie is one smart boy! He knows how to sit and twirl, and he is a fairly quick study, especially when treats are involved. Alfie absolutely loves to play with toys, but he has shown some resource guarding with his toys so he needs to have some rules and structure when it comes to playtime. Alfie is determined, intelligent, independent, and loving. How I act when I first meet new people: Alfie is finicky with new people. He likes some new people and others he does not like. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: 5 years Please note - we do not ship dogs.
