Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? none noted Weight: 19 lbs Height: Est 14' at the shoulder Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Zoey would love any home where she is offered love and somewhere to lay her head at night. This girl is not hard to please! What is my personality like? I already knew Zoey was a sweet and loving girl, but she pleasantly surprised me. She walks great on leash, couldn't ask for any better! She got along great with Bobby Grey (the cat), ... (Read More)they even started to play together a little. She is one big love bug that is seeking someone to be the center of her universe. She gets along fine with all dogs and has such a wonderful disposition about her. She knows how to sit on command and actually likes to chase after tennis balls. It's very endearing seeing her enjoy her time outside of her cottage. She's low key and doesn't require too much, she would just be happy to be in a loving home and have that happy ever after. How do I act when I first meet new people? Sweet- loves people! House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: Estimated birth date 5/24/2009 Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet.     Date into Rescue: 6/16/2017 Reason for being in rescue: Owner release to NC shelter, owner possibly moving Foster location: Pam in Rocky Mount NC Special Needs? none Weight: 10 lb Adoption Fee: $269 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? One that can show him kindness - he hasn't had a lot in his short life. Nellie is a blank slate ready to learn how to be a beloved dog. He is good with other dogs or could be an only dog. What is my personality like? Calm, cuddly, and shy. But he is ready for a loving forever home to help him build up his trust and confidence so he can be the amazing dog that we know he can be. How do I ... (Read More)act when I first meet new people? Shy, but warms up. More tips and tidbits: He wants to be close to people. He's a scared of new people till they hold him and talk to him. He's not had an easy start to life, but can become a wonderful little dog with time and patience. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: Estimated birth date 11/21/2016 PUPPY POLICY: ~~Thank you for considering adding a puppy to your family. Puppies can be a joyous experience but they can also be a tremendous amount of work. You need to be prepared for that work. Because our goal is to place each of our dogs in forever homes, we are especially cautious where we put puppies. Our ideal puppy adopters are: *experienced dog owners with a solid record of excellent vet care of their previous pets *be scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day *and for those gone 4 hours per day have another canine companion in the home *be stay at home type of people (work at home, home schoolers, retired, etc) If you fit this criteria, please apply for this puppy. If you do not fit this criteria, we strongly encourage you to look at our adoptable adult dogs. The number one misconception that we hear routinely from new dog owners is that they want a puppy because they do not think they can handle correcting past bad behaviors or resolving baggage. Not every adoptable rescue dog carries such baggage. Many adult dogs are well bred, well trained dogs who have lost their families through no fault of their own. The second misconception we hear is that adult dogs can not bond with a new family. This again is not a true statement. Adult dogs are ready and eager to give you their love. In return, you get a family pet that is a known quantity, known size and shape and color and ready to start on the new adventure, their life with you. Lastly, training a puppy correctly is a tremendous commitment of time and energy. This is why we ask the puppy seeker have more time at home than the average working family. Puppies are gregarious and social creatures who crave attention and positive direction. You need the extra time to do it right.~~ Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. He does not look for anyone elses opinion and has his own little mind. Hugo is still a little shy but he is showing us more and more of his true personality. Rescue Me ID: 17-07-15-00468Huckabee (male)

Beagle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 5/26/2017 Reason for being in rescue: found as stray Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Huckabee has heartworms. He will be sent home with 12 months of heartworm preventative. This is called the slow kill method . Please check with your veterinarian before adopting a dog with heartworms. Weight: 24.3 lbs Height: est 20' at the shoulder Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Yes What kind of home would be best for me? Huckabee is looking for a family with a lot of experience in taking care of dogs. A typical hound, Huckabee has a strong personality and a desire to shape a really nice basic ... (Read More)personality into a wonderful dog. Huckabee is bright - and bright kids need loving structure or they will take advantage of you. What is my personality like? Huckabee is a sweet lovable boy but he's definitely a strong personality. For example, he walks on a leash, but he likes to lead. He is intent on going where he wants. He is also good at slipping between feet and through gates. That can be dangerous and he needs to be taught to respect boundaries. He has spent time playing with dogs much larger than he is and did well. He loves the freedom of a fenced in yard to run and play in. How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly and inquisitive. More tips and tidbits: When introduced to a new group of dogs and a new area of our farm he had not been to in the past, he enjoyed the stimulation of a new environment, smelling new smells and marking his territory. So far, we've introduced Huckabee to a kitten who is not very active yet as she is too young . Our caregiver could not make a good call on whether he would be good with cats based on this one encounter. He wasn't aggressive, but at that point he was overwhelmed by seeing new dogs and new smells and a new place. He was busy taking it ALL in. He'll need to be cat tested again if a cat owning home is interested. The boy is a good guy. But he is young and very active. He can't focus on one on one time. His mind and body are going in many different directions. He's a cutie and he needs some work *as most young dogs do) but he has a great disposition and that you can't teach. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. He'd love kids. Home schoolers? What is my personality like? Wide open, happy, friendly and eager to please. Dudley is an all around happy kind of guy. How do I act when I first meet new people? A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: Est birth date 4/9/2017 PUPPY POLICY: ~~Thank you for considering adding a puppy to your family. Rescue Me ID: 17-07-15-00443Charlie (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 5/2/2017 Reason for being in rescue: Owner release/health of the owner Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? none needed Weight: About 45 lbs Height: est 22' at the shoulder Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Yes What kind of home would be best for me? I need a home with no other smaller animals, and where I can be loved of course! What is my personality like? Charlie is a whole lot of dog. His owner did tell us that he has had problems with other dogs, especially little dogs, so we have not tested him with others nose to nose. This can be done on request but Charlie is so people focused we'd ... (Read More)really like to find him a home as an only dog. Note that dogs can walk by his crate all day or he can be with other dogs with a fence between them with no issues at all. Dogs who want to be only dogs are rare. He is an ideal candidate for someone who only wants one dog. Charlie is physically very strong! He pulls on his leash and for some reason has an obsession with the shower in the kennel because if given the chance he runs straight for it. We don't have a pool but I'd love to see this water loving dog doing some hiking where he can splaash in the creeks. How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly. More tips and tidbits: Charlie doesn't know basic commands but he is learning he has to sit for his treats. I think he will be a fast learner. He would need a fence. He is very friendly with the adults in our kennel but has not been tested with kids. On our walk he kept his nose to the ground and was full speed ahead! He didn't bark when meeting new people and was perfectly okay with them approaching him to love on him.' House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: Estimated birth date 5/3/2014 Please note - we do not ship dogs. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. (Less)

My age: est. birth date 3/15/2017 PUPPY POLICY: ~~Thank you for considering adding a puppy to your family. Rescue Me ID: 17-07-15-00435Hank (male)

Plott Mix    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 1/26/2017 Reason for being in rescue: Owner surrender, Owner can't care for. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? none noted Weight: 57 lbs Height: Estimated 10' at the shoulder. Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? A fence would be ideal until leash trained. What kind of home would be best for me? Hank needs a kind, low-key and patient home that does not mind working with him. What is my personality like? Update 7/6/2017: Hank's story is more like a song. His past is rocky which is why he is so unsure of new people, but boy does this dog have potential. Hank has been with us for 6 months and it's so ... (Read More)hard to believe that the terrified dog hiding in the back of his pen is now this bright vibrant lap dog. We have put real dedication in this guy and it surely shows. This insecure, troubled soul has turn into a glorified toy hoarder and a huge baby that loves to give kisses. All he really wants is just to be a families dog.. Not a yard ornament, not something to look at when you are bored.. but a real part of your family. Mind you, Hank is still apprehensive of new people, but he has shown us if you are willing to try with him.. he will most definitely try with you. Winning him over just takes a little time and his favorite snack of course.. cheese puffs! He still needs leash work, we think it would be successful with time and a front walking harness. 3/8/2017 Hank came to the rescue from a very under-socialized environment. He is still trying to figure out what being someone's pet really is. Hank still needs work, but he is the more social out of his siblings. He hates leashes and does not understand why he has to have one on in order to walk outside.. He kind of just sits down and does not move but he has gotten better since he has been here. Hank is learning how to sit, and loves meaty treats! He does not care about cats. Once he is used to you he does give affection and loves giving little kisses. How I act when I first meet new people: Weary of new people, it takes a little time but then he is basically a lap dog. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. No What kind of home would be best for me? I need a quiet home with humans that will love me unconditionally. What is my personality like? Originally, I was found in a wet bucket on the side of the road all alone until a nice lady seen me and took me home. I was an owner release to CPR with my brother because our previous owners did not have time for us. It's sad really.. because all I want is ... (Read More)someones precious time to give them love in return. My brother and I, are almost complete opposites. You see.. he is the loud crazy one while I am the quiet, bashful, (and better looking) one.. but don't tell him I said that! We are great together but we are not bonded and can be in separate homes. I'm a little rough around the edges and need socializing work, but there is a diamond under all this timidness! When I warm up to you I want nothing more than to be your Netflix buddy. Could you help me be the dog I have the potential to be? How do I act when I first meet new people? I'm bashful, but I warm up. More tips and tidbits: I walk fine on a leash, but I turn my ears and head to every sound I hear. I love treats and I am working on how to sit! What kind of home would be best for me? Brielle needs a quiet, more reserved home with owners that have a soft spot for timid dogs. Brielle reportedly has some standard poodle in her but we don't see much and she does shed. What is my personality like? Brielle came to the farm as an owner release with a few others. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-05-18-00064Bonzo (male)

Maltese    Age: Adult

Date into Rescue: 02/27/2017 Reason for being in rescue: Owner release - can't take care of Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Bonzo is looking for a quiet and experienced home with adults who understand dog behavior and known how to manage a little bit of attitude. Bonzo is lightly heartworm positive. On adoption he will be sent home with 12 months of Triheart heartworm preventative. This is called the slow kill method of heartworm treatment. Please discuss with your veterenarian options for heartworm treatment before considering adoption of Bonzo. Weight: 9.5 lbs Height: 9' at the shoulder Adoption ... (Read More)Fee: $229 Fence needed? Vastly preferred - he's good on a leash but enjoys yard privileges and barking at the neighbor dogs. FYI inside he's a pretty quiet dog although he barks at strangers. What kind of home would be best for me? Bonzo thrives on routine and structure. He does not like it when dinner or you are late. Things should run on time and as expected! His best behavior is when he's had that routine life and someone who knows his quirks. What is my personality like? Quirky and different. Bonzo has a whole code of conduct that you need to learn to be able to work with him. He can be affectionate but he also will growl at you if he wants space. He does not seem to know how to accept love. Right now, one of his caregivers finds if she picks him up with a towel, he does much better. He is well crate trained and will go into his crate most of the time with the cue 'Bedtime for Bonzo.' If he's giving you a bit of a hard time about that, we throw a treat in first. He loves to be sung to and verbally praised and he loves treats. Bonzo is an absolutely gorgeous little dog and he likes being groomed and made pretty. With some loving discipline and structure, the inside will improve. We've seen a lot of improvement over the last few months but I do not believe he's ever going to be trustworthy around strangers when inside his own home or ever with children. How I act when I first meet new people: He'll head towards you in a 'I'm going to get you before you get me/what are you doing in my space' when he's at home and he means it. He's bitten (teeth marks, very slight puncture) two strangers both who were coming into his space. When verbally called off he stopped immediately. In our adoption center, where he only occasionally visits, he did not do that although once he got comfortable on the couch, he did growl at a caregiver who was testing whether we could pick him up. His primary caregiver used a towel to move him on that occasion. He would be an excellent watch dog - no one will get in. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: We were told 6 years old and that sounds about right based on his behavior Please note - we do not ship dogs. Rescue Me ID: 17-05-01-00293Luke (male)

Chihuahua    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 3/11/2017 Reason for being in rescue: Owner release, could not care for. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Needs socialized. Weight: 8.4 lbs Height: Estimated 9-10' at the shoulder. Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? A fence would be greatly appreciated. Luke is fearful and not leash trained yet. What kind of home would be best for me? Luke needs a home with a family that can understand his situation and his need for learning to trust. No other male dogs is best. What is my personality like? Luke came to the farm with a few others from the same hoarding situation. Although Luke has made ... (Read More)improvements, he is still fearful of people. He has his favorites here at the farm that he will let love on him, but if you are not one of those people.. he hides in the corner. Luke would be a great lap dog if someone is willing to put in work and a lot of patience. Notes from caregiver 4/26/2017- 'I like this little guy. He growls when he's eating and will go in his crate without any force but he growls and turns round and round when he is in it. I have been holding him since his second week here and he's great unless Gus and Jaq are out with him. I normally keep them separated. If they are in the big area together they are fine but small spaces is a no. He doesn't mind girls but I would be very careful about putting him with boy dogs. He isn't good on a leash he wants to pull you but off leash he stays right there with you. He comes to his name almost every time you call him. I let him in the area outside of Greta's and he didn't wonder too far from me. Almost as if he was scared to go further then the leash even when off leash. When I called him he would run to me and jump up on my leg. He gives great kisses too. He loves to be right with you and have his head and back scratched. He is dying for some one on one attention and shows his appreciation with a sweetness in his eyes and a kiss on your cheek. He doesn't always have a clean crate so I wouldn't say he is crate trained. I think he would be best being the only dog. He was fine with my child he ignored her.' How I act when I first meet new people: Fearful House trained? Rescue Me ID: 17-04-25-00066Chipper (male)

Cocker Spaniel    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 3/7/16 - adopted but returned when roommate got a new dog and Chipper did not like him Reason for being in rescue: breeder/hoarder Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? yes, Chipper tested positive for heartworms. He just completed his heartworm treatment using the fast kill method. The fast kill method consists of giving the dog three immiticide injections and keeping them strictly confined on crate rest for four to six weeks. Chipper will be retested for heartworms six months after the completion of his treatment. Weight: est 15 lbs Height: est 12' at shoulder Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? ... (Read More)no What kind of home would be best for me? Chipper is one of many dogs seized from a hoarder in Abbeville, South Carolina. The poor guy was living in filthy deplorable conditions-no clean water, dirty matted hair, feces, etc. Chipper deserves a nice home with a loving family that can meet all his needs. He would make a great family pet and he gets along well with older considerate children. He does need a family that can care for his medical needs and if interested in Chipper, we encourage adopters to read about heartworms. What is my personality like? Chipper is a total love bug when he wants to be. He wants nothing more than to be with his human and will follow you everywhere, but will sometimes guard you. Chipper loves to climb on your lap and lay his head on your shoulder while being petted. He gets along well with other dogs, but is much more interested in people but, needs a patient owner. Chipper is eager to please and could easily be taught some basic commands. Chipper is crate trained and hops right in when its bedtime. Update- Chipper was previously adopted but then returned due to resource guarding his owner and not getting along with the new dog brought into the home. When Chipper commits, he commits hard. He would do great with a single person that would be willing to earn his trust. Update from caregiver 3/7/2017- Chipper was recently returned. I can't recall how long ago he went to his 'forever home,' but he came back much like the boy who left. He's a bit headstrong. He pulls on leash until he strangles himself a bit. He then ends up coughing. With a harness, that problem could be avoided. He didn't seem to care about the dogs in the admin office. Salem the cat did not even merit a sniff. He did bark at someone he did not know, but there was no aggression. He was doing what dogs are supposed to do. He was great in the car. He even stretched out in the back window. I heard the reasoning for his return. All I can say is: he was a great companion this afternoon. How I act when I first meet new people: Chipper is cautious and wary of new people more so men than women, but he warms up fairly quickly. . House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.     Date into Rescue: 1/26/2017 Reason for being in rescue: 1/26/2017 Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? none noted Weight: 38.8 lbs Height: Estimated 8.5' at the shoulder. Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Fence is recommended until she is leash trained. What kind of home would be best for me? Baby girl needs a home that does not mind working with a under socialized dog. What is my personality like? 3/6/2017-June came to the rescue with her siblings and a few puppies. Her past living conditions has made her weary of new people, and under-socialized. She has no idea what it is like to completely be someone's ... (Read More)'loved pet'. June needs work, and I mean a lot of work with being socialized. She quickly attaches herself to people she is familiar with. She needs leash work, but I have found a front walking harness helps the most. Although she is still weary of new people, she has came a good bit from when she first got here. She allows certain caregivers to love on her and she showers them with kisses. June has the potential to be a great, completely loyal dog with the right patient person. June has been cat tested and does not mind them. She is also okay with other dogs as long as they are not over-barring and do not scare her. If you open up your heart to her, she will gladly walk in.. 4 paws and all! Notes from caregiver 2/16/2017 ' I couldn't for the life of me get her to stay still. I've been delaying posting my description on her but spending time with her every time I'm asked to do it in hopes she's getting better and she is, just extremely slow. She has no desire to have a lead put around her and no desire to walk on it after you spend however long to put it on her. She's just very anxious and scared but who could blame her, seeing as where she had come to us from. She does indeed want you to touch her and her anxieties about it takes over after you do touch her or show her that you would love to give her love. She doesn't like to go in her crate as she's not use to one. She also doesn't know any basic commands and the sound of a car door terrified her so I didn't want to work her up more and actually put her in the car to see what she would do as I wouldn't want anyone to do that to me. She loves to be brushed, we've spent some time getting her use to that to understand it's not scary. She's very sweet and loves to bark but I think it's just out of the love that she has for hank and jolene.' %9D%A4 How I act when I first meet new people: Weary, hand shy but wants to be loved. Rescue Me ID: 17-03-11-00507Sabrina (female)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 5/7/2015 Reason for being in rescue: Sabrina was turned into a kill shelter by her family Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? None known Weight: 8 Height: 10' Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Sadly we do not have much history on Sabrina, however if her behavior is indicative of her past...it was not a positive one. I will never forget the day we picked her up. We were actually going to the shelter to pick up another few dogs, and we saw Sabrina. She was hairless, crusty and absolutely petrified....and of course, on the Euthanasia list. Touching her ... (Read More)bare-handed was not an option. We got her back to the farm where we started making progress. We treated her skin for allergies and it took several months but she has finally grown a full coat back!! She is great with other dogs and has turned into a happy gal. She has also done well walking on a leash for our caregivers! Sabrina needs someone who is familiar with chihuahuas as she has a few quirks. Once she trusts you, she is a breeze to deal with. Sabrina only snaps if she gets very frightened (which happens less and less as time goes on). She has never actually bitten anyone. Sabrina is a sweetheart who is full of life and would really thrive with some one on one attention! We hope to find her a forever family, as almost 10 months has gone by and she is now ready! UPDATE: Sabrina is becoming more confident everyday. She is such a sweet girl, and does not have one mean bone in her body. Sometimes when you pick her her up she yelps, more so out of fear than anything else. Once she gets acquainted with you, she wants nothing but love and affection. She gets along great with her fellow doggy friends and usually just lays low. She is very polite, she doesn't bark much nor does she get in any kind of scruffles with other dogs. Her favorite thing to do is curl up underneath a blanket and snooze the day away. Update 2/9/2017 notes from caregiver: Sabrina is one very sweet girl, but take her out of her comfort zone and she starts to shut down. She did great walking on leash, but was very scared of the new dogs around her and in a new environment. She's very comfortable in Gretta's, so when this adorable little girl does get a new home, lots of patience will be the key to get her acclimated to everything new. She keeps to herself, doesn't bother a soul, and behaves very well. A perfect apartment sized dog with a quiet laid back owner would be perfect for Sabrina! How I act when I first meet new people: Timid until she gets to know you House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. Rescue Me ID: 17-03-01-00080Marco Paco (male)

Chihuahua    Age: Puppy

Date into Rescue:1/31/2017 Reason for being in rescue: Owner moving Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms Pacolet SC Special Needs? No Weight: 6 lbs. Height: Adoption Fee: $ 300 Fence needed? Bullmastiff    Age: Puppy

Date into Rescue: 05/10/2016 Reason for being in rescue: turned in to a local shelter by owner - reason stated was that Mia was originally a gift but she grew larger than the owner expected her to Foster location: Misty in Union SC Special Needs? none known Weight: about 55 lbs -she is in good weight but is young, adult weight will probably be 65 to 70 lbs at full grown Height: about 26' at shoulder - will most likely grow at least one more inch Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Much preferred but to the right home will consider no fence home What kind of home would be best for me? Mia is an affectionate, happy dog who epitomizes ... (Read More)the absolute best of the bull mastiff breed. She was originally owner release / can't care for and one of our caregivers took her home for several months while we worked to resolve her cherry eye .She loved Mia but realized that she is far too big and needs much more attention than she could give so tearfully asked us to find Mia a home. What is my personality like? Bouncy, sweet, loves to play. Hasn't met a squeeky toy she did not like. She can be a bit rough on toys, too. She has no one here that is really her size or energy level to play with but her limited interaction has been okay. Medical note: Mia has cherry eye (a tear duct that protrudes) in both eyes. In September, our vet attempted reduction by tucking but the tucking did not stay in. Because removing cherry eye often creates dry eye later in life, we've opted not to do additional surgery at this time. How I act when I first meet new people: Sweetheart - she loves people. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Rescue Me ID: 16-09-07-00421Oscar of Union (male)

Cairn Mix    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 2/28/2015 Reason for being in rescue: Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Yes, see description Weight: Est 43lb Height: Est 17' at the shoulder What is my personality like? Strong willed, goofy, intelligent, energetic Who I am seeking: Oscar needs someone who is very experienced with head-strong dogs. He must have a strong 'pack leader,' otherwise he will run over you. He needs an adult only home. Oscar can be a very, very sweet dog. He likes to show affection and to get attention - when he wants it. He has bitten and broken the skin on one occasion since his time here with us. What we have ... (Read More)found is that he does best with people that he knows and trust, versus complete strangers. Oscar needs a strong leader who can teach him some manners and work with him. He loves to play and run out in the field. Oscar has a lot of energy and needs someone who is able to exercise him. He shows signs of resource guarding - he will act ugly in his crate sometimes and over treats. We definitely think his behavior could be modified with some training. At this time we believe he would thrive best in a home where he is the only pet. He has not made many canine friends in his time here - mainly due to his dominant personality. With some time and patience, Oscar could be an excellent dog. He needs an adult only home. Oscar was heartworm positive when we got him. He has finished full treatment and is ready for a home. Update 3/31/2016 Oscar needs lots of patience for the right home. He does not like new people but once he warms up to you he's as sweet as can be! He loves to run and give kisses. He will jump fences..so he definaltey could use some training. If anyone is interested in this goofy boy they should come spend one on one time at the farm with him until Oscar is comfortable with the new person. Age: We are estimating him at 5 but honestly the longer he's with us the younger he acts. Please understand that these are rescued dogs, and sometimes their ages are only a guess. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture, and not to discriminate against older dogs. You never know which dog will steal your heart when you meet them! How I act when I first meet new people: VERY weary about new people. He will bark and growl in his run until he gets to know you. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Rescue Me ID: 16-07-06-00719Opie (male)

Treeing Walker Coonhound Mix    Age: Young Adult

Date into Rescue: 12/31/2015 Reason for being in rescue: Owner release Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Opie is a very special guy - he survived heartworm treatment and is now clear! Monthly Heartguard is essential to his continued health and well being Weight: est 45 lbs Height: est 22' Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed: he would love one - or lots and lots and lots of running and play time! Opie is a goofy hound mix with a loving and playful disposition. He loves to play with toys, especially tennis balls. He gets along well with other dogs and loves to go outside and play with his many canine companions. ... (Read More)Opie and his other hound friends love to engage in rough play and Opie likes to growl a lot when he plays, but it is all in good fun! Opie knows how to sit, and is also crate trained and runs right in his crate. Opie loves people and always greets them cheerfully. He has a heart of gold and is extremely loyal to his people. He is so deserving of a forever home... Opie came to CPR severely underweight, dehydrated, and a victim of neglect and abuse. We put him on a strict diet to gain weight and prevent refeeding syndrome and slowly nursed Opie back to a healthy weight. Despite his condition, Opie was (and still is), very loving and upbeat, wanting to play with his tennis ball while out on potty breaks. Opie does resource guard his food, but considering his past of not knowing when his next meal would come it's not surprising that he would be protective of his food. The perfect home for Opie would be an experienced adopter that will continue to work and train with him through his resource guarding issues. Opie would love an active owner to go for daily walks, hikes or jogs. He would do well in a home with another large dog to play with or as an only dog! House trained?
